Yes, Franko and our favourite Barry joined forces to take over AW.net, and the server couldn't stand it and committed suicide.[1]

[1] This may, in fact, not be the case. Caveat lector.

As of 2:45 PM US Eastern time, Sunday Jan 15th - AW.net
seems to be buggered and all their IRC servers are down.

The trolls must be out playing.

@pjs

Yep.
Moments after I posted on amiga.org for people to use de.amigaworld.net or se2.amigaworld.net, they both went down.

Now Amiga.org is having issues as well.

VBulletin error page is popping up after log in, clicking on a thread, and attempting to post.
Saw this once before. We had a thread on AW about it, but obviously I can not link to it now. Heh.

Oh well...

Probably upgrading the forum or increasing security or something due to recent events.

Same here. I presume it is to do with the recent spate of account hacking?

i'm not sure, but now we can't access the IRC servers, aros-exec.org, amiga-news.de, or aminet either.

could just be coincidence, of course. or it could be some nutter thinking how powerful and impressive he is by taking sites with practically no protection from attack off-line. sometimes i think this community attracts rather more than its fair share of insanity.

edit: as of 1700EST everything is back except amigaworld.net itself.

I wonder if most people cannot get AW.net to load has anything to do with their efforts to block certain domains in an effort to stop the hacker who has been messing with so many Amiga forum sites?

I have not been able to visit AW.net for about 24 hours now.

Here I am.

I'll post here about that in a little while. First I need
some coffee.

The hacker is probably busy choking his chicken over his
deed. Sad.

Thanks Mech,

I didn't have a chance to write it down...so amigaworld.net has been hacked?

Do you think it's the same people who stole Trev's pass?

No idea.

Here is some KS info. Should probably start a new thread if more discussion is needed.

-------------------------------------------------------

My SAM440ep Kicklayout commented-out modules.

;MODULE Kickstart/FastFileSystem - - - - - - - - -File System
;MODULE Kickstart/JXFileSystem - -- - - - - - - - -File System

;MODULE Kickstart/gameport.device.kmod - - -Joystick/MIDI port on cards like SBLive!

;MODULE Kickstart/it8212ide.device.kmod - - -SATA RAID controller

;MODULE Kickstart/lsi53c8xx.device.kmod - - -SCSI card

;MODULE Kickstart/sii0680ide.device.kmod - |
;MODULE Kickstart/sii3112ide.device.kmod - | My SAM440ep only has sii3114ide SATA.
;MODULE Kickstart/sii3512ide.device.kmod - -|

;MODULE Kickstart/3dfxVoodoo.chip

;MODULE Kickstart/uhci.usbhcd - - - - - - - - - -| VIA / Intel USB. Needed for MAI boards onboard USB
- or add-in cards that may use it.

There is no way Hyperion can know what is in your computer, so they load everything. I think the only
time I have heard of a problem with a module is something about USB and the LSI module on the ATX
MAI boards, but can't confirm.

For the most part,,,,If it's not in your computer, you don't need to load it. If you comment it out by
inserting a semicolon in front of the line in Kicklayout and get a problem - remove the semicolon.

Be back later.
