I've got a Sam460, and here is what I would like to have next: 3D driver support for PCI-E video cards. Updated on-board sound drivers. (although PCI cards work great) Timberwolf web browser. (although MUI-OWB does work well)
I'm happy with it, and still use all my other Amigas (Sam440, AmigaOneXE, X1000). I need to sell my Amiga4000 because it hasn't been used since getting the newer machines.
Having had so many troubles with my A1XE, and after my wife said, "Stop wasting your time trying to get that old thing to work!" I decided to look at my Amiga replacement options. After looking at the contenders, I sold off a lot of stuff to raise the necessary funds. I then visited the new ACube store and bought a SAM460ex motherboard. It will be shipping out soon.
~Yes I am a Kiwi, No, I did not appear as an extra in 'Lord of the Rings'~ 1x AmigaOne X5000 2.0GHz 2gM RadeonR9280X AOS4.x 3x AmigaOne X1000 1.8GHz 2gM RadeonHD7970 AOS4.x
I have a AmigaOne 500. Worked very well until the SSD had a problem. There seems to be a prblem in teh SYSTEM partition. The WORK one is just fine and I can still get to it if I boot off a CD or the SD card that comes with the machine.
Can anyone tell me a good palce to find out how to make a SD card to boot off like the one that comes with it? I was going to try and make a 16 gig one into the SYSTEM to repalce the one of the SSD. However, it has been so long since I have worked with a Amiga computer that I have not having much luck doing this.
Create a 1 or more partitions (SFS or FFS) on SD Card using MediaToolbox on AmigaOS4 (use usbdisk.device for reaching the SD Card in hard disk preparation utility) and put a SLB on it. That should create a new disk in Workbench. Then install OS4.1 on this SD card partition.
Then in UBoot select the boot device as USB HD and boot from SD card.
Just in case you didn't realise: You can do the above after booting from your OS4 installation CD, so you're not lost just because your system partition on the SSD doesn't work.
I bough my Sam460 but I use more my Sam440, because the sound driver and graphic card driver in the Sam 460 are a big problem. Although it is true that I bough my Sam460 as replacement in case of crash of my Sam440 as I suffered one year ago, in the process of creating a program for OS4.
My SIL card and X1600XT (22.1GB/s bandwidth!) arrived yesterday. I'm hoping to see my SAM460ex in March in time for my birthday... it'sss my birthday presssent... my preciousssss.
