Samba for Idiots Guide?
Not too shy to talk

Hi all (and Mikey_C specifically),
Has something happened to the Samba for Idiots guide that was hosted on Mikey_C's Tesco homepage? Because searching for it now only brings up the Tesco "this page has moved" message... Thanks!

Yeah its gone - Can't see the point, I switched ISP's - To be honest Samba doesn't work in Windows Vista or 7- I am sure that if you use the wayback machine, you should find it.

What's needed is a new Samba or something.

Aww, that's a shame, I guess you're right though with windows 7 becoming ever more popular. I'm sure a few people would still find it useful though... If you do feel like putting it back up, I'd be happy to host it on my webspace.

If you wanna grab it from wayback machine, you are welcome to host it.

I don't have the files anymore - at least I don't think I have.

@Mikey_C - Does a new one handling various Windows settings
as well as the Amiga Samba edition being made to work?

I have a recent samba config and just need to access things

I don't mind trying to document efforts to setup Win7 with AOS4.x and AmigaOS3.x c/o AMIthlon on QEMU

The only way Samba Works is between Windows 2000/XP. As I understand it, there is no way you will get samba on the Amiga working with Windows Vista or Windows 7

If someone can find the files I can re-host.

Edit: Actually nvm, managed to find it.. well the text only... need images. ^.^

In fact no need for me to host it, I'll just let Wordpress host it for free. If anyone wants to help maintain it please PM your email address and I'll make you an administrator so its in as the hands of many people as possible.

Thanks for this. I use Windows 7 on the PeeCee now, but it's always handy to have if I ever fall back or need it in the future.

Cheers!

@djrikki,
the "step 7" can be done within the internet preferences,
in the services part, more secure than doing it with the NotePad
