Timberwolf RC2 available

Subject says it all, it's currently uploading to OS4depot and should be in the upload queue shortly.

There's a bunch of changes in this version, please consult the bugtracker for information on bugs fixed.

Highlights of this release are as follows:

- The UI font size now adapts correctly to the system#s default font
- Downloaded files can now be directly opened with user-selectable programs, for example, you can use UnArc to open a newly downloaded archive.
- Should now work without RANDOM mounted, it will fall back to using pseudo-random numbers (i.e. rand in newlib). RANDOM is an entropy collector, and thus generates much more reliable random numbers. If you can, use RANDOM:
- Should be slightly faster now (html5 benchmark said between 0 and 20 % faster) due to new Cairo build (latest version). Don't expect miracles, though.
- The bookmark database is now using a new scheme that should make concurrent access possible. This was necessary to make sure that the user interface is correctly enabled when the browser is launched with a web page (home page/command line). The upside is that it might now work on JXFS (please try). The downside is that this has to be tested and might make it necessary to have an rc3

Future course:
As already hinted, the next thing we want to achieve is getting updated to the latest Firefox build (14.0, I think). It wasn't possible to do that during the bounty as that would have been a fast moving target. Now that the bounty is paid off, we'll tackle that.
Once OS4.2 is out, we'll add the OpenGL and WebGL support, making it fully hardware accelerated. I'll evaluate the amount of work it would be to implement a non-OpenGL layer manager, but it looks like a lot of work... we'll see...

As usual, feedback to the bugtracker, please.

First of all thanks! Then i tried it on my sam440ep but always at startup, after the splash screen, i have a GR just when the timberwolf's window opens and the GR says it is a libcairo.so fault.. i have a GR that i can send you by e-mail..

Before running Timberwolf i deleted the old one and re-created the font cache..

It teaks 4 minutes for web pages to download, cpu meter shows 13% while downloading web pages, I think the web pages are rendered faster, but all in all, I can't use this version at all, And the fonts are too big on http://vg.no, The splash screen did not go away.

On my PC they seems quite big even if always readable, can't compare with Timberwolf as right now it doesn't work, so still hard to spot the difference ..

I can confirm both effects ->

Sam440ep: Crashes reproducable at startup, seems to be somewhere in libcairo.so.
Pegasos II: *After* loading a page everything seems to work fine, but loading of pages is (ultra)extremly slow - so it is completely unusable atm.

Both machines run with OS4.1 Update 4 and hadn't this problems with the RC1 release.

@tfrieden

When it works for you then it should be a resolvable...

I get exactly the same here on my SAM460 after fresh install and doing the font cache thing via shell, had to go back to older pre-RC vesrsion as can't find RC1 version anywhere!

@SOVA

Confirmed, replacing libcairo.so from RC1 solve the issue, so now RC2 start ok (no crash at startup), but some problem still, for example on OS4Depot all fonts are black, the first page does not contain all the text and other various and eventual other issue ..

Also as other say now it's very very slow during loading.

The new small fonts instead are very nice !

Aniway SOVA welcome to Amigans.net

Edit:
File in download window still use the same old big fonts !
