I am building up a developer-forum for all camps

Because there is need and no seperated forum just for development (software/hardware) I am setting up a forum for all camps (classic, AOS4, MOS, Aros). Basic idea is neutrality, so no discussions with sentence like "done right", "true" or similar.

I would like to know what you think about structure and what should I change.

I have a basic question to all. The owner of amiga.org is asking me if I want to move all to amiga.org instead of having a completely separated site.

my site:
http://forum.natami-news.de/index.php

or as sub-forum on amiga.org

i personally prefer being separated but I would like to hear different opinions.

Well, I'd firstly get rid of requiring manual approval of new registrations; there's no need for it.

As far as Amiga.org goes, there is *already* a "development ... forum for all camps":
http://www.amiga.org/forums/group.php?groupid=44

Not that many people use it :(

As far as your forum goes, it could be useful to have forums dedicated to particular languages, e.g. C, E (AmigaE/PortablE/etc), Hollywood, etc.

Also, please consider changing "AOS4" to "AmigaOS4" & "MOS" to "MorphOS". There shouldn't be any need to use informal slang when describing which system a forum is for.

@minuos

That's asking for trouble, in the short term bots wont find the site, but they do you can expecet a diet of spam quite quickly.

And captcha type solutions are getting so complex to solve these days that ven humans can't solve them.....

Additionally:
Huge Database
Newest version of the Forum-Software

The only problem is that I could not take over the data. I have added most of the informations of the old site. Please reregister and add missing informations.

Then use one that isn't so complex to solve.

F.e. this one is pretty simple:

Not having a captcha check at all is just asking for your registration form to be spammed to death IMHO.

Sure you can make / use an easire captcha but then you can't rely on as the only confirmation that form has been filled out genuinely.

A combination of manageable capture and human moderation is safest IMHO.
