A1 XE sound help needed ...

I just switched my XE into a new case with front panel audio connectors and I'd like to make the connectors functional if at all possible (my A1 has working on board AC97).

The new case has one female AC97 10 pin connector, while the A1 motherboard has several separated connectors (SPDIF, Headphone Out, Aux Out, CD in).

My understanding is that the A1 is AC97 compatible, so I'm thinking that I just need to connect the right pins on the motherboard to the right pins on the AC97 connector.

Unfortunately, the A1 manual isn't specific about the various pinouts (or even which connector is which).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ken,

I use the AUX (onboard) connectors with my Catweazel MK IV and too have a refitted AC97 audio chip.

It works great albeit it does have a very annoying buzz when using higher volumes.

You can try it out, there is normally no harm done if you plug the cable in wrong (apart from getiing no sound)

You shoud isntall Mixer and work out the best volum and setting.

Hope it helps
