Is it possible to controll tunenet with arexx? And how well? I'd also like to get info from tunenet regarding lenght and position of song? Possible to archieve?
The plan was to use mplayer, but that wont work with audio only afaik.

The latest version is newer than that post, but I suspect it's probably the case that it was never added.

The AmigaAmp scopes interface uses ARexx so you might be able to get what you need out of that. TuneNet can be controlled by re-running it with various command line switches IIRC.

TN does not have ARexx and yes you can control it from the command line but not get metadata out of it.

Smuggling ARexx functionality into the mix via a visualization plugin (TuneNet has basically file format plugins and these which conform with AmigaAMP) is an interesting idea but it looks like it would require a new plugin. Probably not a simple one at that.

Is it somewhat possible to find out if a song has been finished?

Tunenet sets some variables whilst is playing.

I forget the full list but you should be able to read up on them in the docs / look in ENV:Tunenet to see what's happening.

Okay I just did that myself

ENV:Tunenet/playing_album
ENV:Tunenet/playing_artist
ENV:Tunenet/playing
ENV:Tunenet/status

status varies between playing / paused and stopped

playing = playing
paused = stopped via GUI
stopped = stopped due to end of track

other variations may apply

BY setting up notifications or periodiaclly monutoring thiose variables you can get a good feel for what is happening inside Tunenet, albeit not 100% and not as good as a true metadata access via rexx or similar
