DeCSS.plugin - installation requires hex editing?!?

The DeCSS.plugin on OS4Depot comes with NO installation instructions, but in the comments Severin gives installation instructions & claims you have to hex edit the file!:

Can anyone shed any light on this?

René made a mistake in the code and used Amiga-S to (S)tart the dvd. That's already used to change the skin so if you use keyboard shortcuts instead of the mouse to select options you might get problems.

You don't NEED to hex edit it if you use the mouse to select menu options. The edit is just one byte to change it back to the default Amiga-D and is far quicker than waiting for an update as René has as he says 'lost interest' in the project for now.

BTW, if his plugin is supposed to replace the existing DVD plugin, why isn't it given the same name?

No idea. I do know that DVPlayer recursivly scans the DVPlugin drawer so everything has to be taken out, can't use a disabled drawer or rename plugins to turn them off as they're still found and loaded.

DeCSS.plugin makes sense as that's what it does I suppose.

to install you should just have to copy it into the plugin dir and restart DVPlayer.

Now you have another menu item where you can select Open DVD/VCD option.

Mine is the one with Amiga+S as shortcut... this was a bit of a mistake as that one is already used.

about the filename, I reorganised the source so much that is would be hard to update again if the orginal linux decss got updated... so I dident want to replace the orginal driver.
