Owncloud - a new open source way for us to access dropbox!

filecopying was really slow as well. i tried to copy a 4mb file and it took ages and it stalled inte the middle.
it looks like a good start though, but for it to be usable for me it needs a little more umph. ;)

besides, using dropbox this way kind of defeats the purpose as it gets really slow. the smart thing about dropbox is that you always work on local files that gets uploaded in the background so you don't notice any slowness.

Uploading copies the file into memory, and then uploads it to the server (there's a reason for this, but I forget what it is). If you're downloading it just copies as you'd expect.

I usually copy files up and down using the Shell, it's much quicker that way.
