@djrikki

you have a choice of prism2-based or atheros 5000-based wireless cards. you might find the IB guide to wifi on OS4 useful:

atheros5000 cards woun't work currently with Sam series.

But if /when Neil gets it work it would be good choise.

Atheros5000 and Prism2 are chipset used for wlan cards, several manufacturers are used them. For here Finland easiest to find is atheros5000 based card D-Link DWL-G520, netgear cards are also quite common.

Problem of prism2 based cards is that they are hard to find, it is anicent chipset, speed is max 11mb, when atheros is 54mb

I would be very usefull if more people could report their experienses of atheros cards to this thread http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum ... hp?topic_id=5966&start=60

Thanks guys.

Okay so its going to take forever to find and download Unlha for Ubuntu and then AmigaGuide reader for Ubuntu can someone please copypasta the compatiblity list of the Prism2 device driver?

@utri007 - Shame about the speed. Are most modern WiFi Cards stuck at 54mb as well?

Take care at the compatibility list, better to see if someone else succeed.

I tried the DLink PCI-E DWA-556 ("maybe" in the compatibility list) without success.

But I tried with success an external ethernet/wifi adapter, a NetGear WNCE-2001 and it works well.

Hope it helps

Confirmed.

I use this little gadget to connect my Sam440ep (which is in the living room, about 10 m and three walls away from my router), and it works fine.

Plus it enabled me to remove the long ethernet cable which I previously had going through two doorways, preventing those doors to be closed, and generally looking messy. So the WAF of this upgrade should not be underestimated .

Best regards,

Niels

We sell the card - we can flash it for WPA support before despatch:

Every card we sell, Neil gets a contribution for his driver supplied with the card.
