you were actually able to start a torrent and download a file? could you share the torrent you tried? the new ctorrent build starts up just fine, reads in the torrent fine, but -- like before -- times out on every tracker without fail.
i'm sure i'm doing something wrong, since all the torrents i've tried and didn't work on my amiga work just fine on my linux boxes, but i have no idea what it is. if anyone can actually use ctorrent successfully, let me know. maybe we can debug my setup together? pretty please?

Could you be more specific about torrents didn't work ? when you launch ctorrent (or the guictorrent) do you have an error at startup ? A message like ""error, initial meta info failed." appears for some torrents and not for others ? If that occurs, it is normal, this is a known bug and it was corrected in an old patch.

umm people I think youll find this happens because the torrent file you download is compressed. Try double clicking it in DirOpus and then copy this file over the original, then select it.
I always had to do this with torrents from UG for example
the odd one still didnt work but I lived with it because it hardly ever happened
sometimes there is a download as txt file too which should work

That makes no sense, double clicking for me just shows the files hex numbers. Not sure what you're doing to get a second file.

I confirm what Slayer wrote. Sometimes, the torrent file is compressed. Use unarc to decompact and use the bin file. However, I haven't found this kind of torrent file for ages.

Don't know what the problem is, but it is not that the torrents are compressed here. They are not. I can download with my Macs, so not a huge issue for me.... just one of those things to nag me about why it doesn't work on my Miggy.
i guess i have my double click action to list the contents of an archive ( its configurable) its just a little bit quicker than using unarc I suppose
and also the file would need to be compressed, i have to admitt however my stance is rather limited anyway since Ive really only ever used one torrent site
