If they're really using Unity, how are they going to release a version to be ported to the Amiga?
Sounds like a marketing carrot to me.... "Pay all this and we'll let you port it to your machine (even though the engine we use is NOT available - that's your problem, not ours)".

That's exactly it...they release the source (probably to a closed group) and don't care about the rest.

Yep, I expect they're going to run off giggling with the £2.40 they raised from the Amiga community.

Once more someone offers the hand of friendship only to be slapped round the face.

The Amiga's former greatest asset is now its greatest liability.

I see that Wings Remastered has met it's $85k goal with 6 days to go (cutting it close!).

There doesn't seem much point in trying to get the $95k stretch goal, when it's use of the Unity engine would make an AmigaOS4 port very difficult or impossible...

... OTOH, maybe SSolie had something to do with it mentioning AmigaOS in the first place, so maybe he knows something we don't? (Someone interested in seeing Wings Remastered ported to OS4 should email him. I never played the original.)

Call me a cynic but I very much doubt that the added incentive of allowing a Mac and Amiga version was done out of friendship....

"source" means not only the "code" (here a Unity project) but also the data files.
I asked them to release the original source code instead. Maybe we could merge the old code and the new data but they didn't answer on that. They may not have the original sources.

With the size of the Amiga market it certainly wasn't out of commercial interest.

It's no skin off Cinemaware's nose if the offer is not taken up. I can see why OS4 users can afford to be indifferent, there is so much software for the platform they can just pick and choose what they want.

LOL OS4 users are not indifferent just a tad bit wiser than most with long term memory

millions remember the original from the Amiga hey days so dropping the nostalgia bit can only help their recent efforts is what spirantho is referring to.

Cope-Com did it right with re-releasing Battle Squadron so Cinemware should follow IMHO.

@328gts

i dont know the two example are too much different.
Re releasing Original Wings 2d like Battle squadron is more simple , we have many examples of this type of porting on Xbox360/ps3 or on wii u.

The wings3d project is a total new product only share with the original one the story board, the music, the play type and the texts for the remain parts the most important the engine is a totally new product

It seems the $95K has been reached.

So, is it siege mentality or is someone going to grasp the opportunity?
