New category in OS4Depot?

I was wondering with all those many catalog files for other languages, if it will be more convinient to have a new category on OS4Depot (Translations or Catalogs) with each country as a sub-category?

What do you think?

I prefer having them together with the application that they are related to.

If anyone wants to make a complete list of languages and standard prefixes I might (if I find the time) add some search functionality that focuses on just locale files.

Example:

.se - swedish
.de - german
.it - italian
.gr - greek

Or whetever the equivalent prefixes there are in amigaland.

And then make sure that locale files are always named .xx.yyy, _xx.yyy or somesuch.

Of course the translations provided in the application archive will be with the application but getting 3rd party translators to upload their translations with names that will place them near the application will be next to impossible. Few people bother to read instructions but they are likely to notice a "Locale" or "Translations" category on the left of the OS4Depot page. No solution will be perfect though; some people will always upload in the wrong place.

I was not referring to having them in the application archive.

You mean to keep it all as it, just to improve search ? Imho, the problem is not search. but browsing of categories manually, where all those translations placed in all the wrong places. Imho it can be good to have just one new category where make subdirs with those language prefixes, where put just all the translations , and, together with it (if necessary) improve search as well. So it will looks good and when user browse manually, and when he do search.

Preview of a possible locale file search function:

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=modules/sql/locale

Now if someone wants to make a complete list of language + suffixes then I can finish it.

AmigaOS 4 uses ISO-639-2/T (three-letter codes) inside the language driver (libraries).

The "Simple Search" on OS4Depot seems to be not working ATM as it's not showing any results no matter what I type in the search field.

I've renamed a lot of archives to the correct suffixes.

So for those that were interested in this functionality, please let me know what you think so far, before I go about renaming all remaining locale files.

Looks very good, I would say.

But you used the ISO 639-2/B suffix instead of the ISO 639-2/T one.

I'm sorry, but it looks like the provided list form the "Library of Congress" uses the /B variant in the first column and the /T in the second, but only when they differ.

eng||en|English|anglais
ger|deu|de|German|allemand

-> English eng
-> German deu

Maybe I can put together a list what AmigaOS 4 is using in the evening.

Great, that's much much better, thanks.

Does an option to sort them by name/date/size/ etc exists?

Nope, but I might add one once/if there's a lot more files per language.
