Screenblanker and joysticks

Please can the OS4 screenblanker be modifed so it recognises joystick movement as a valid input event?

I know AmigaInput wasn't included with OS4final, but when it is officially in the package, the screenblanker needs to be able to get events from it. Can more than one process share AmigaInput controllers? If so, there's an easy solution there.

It is possible to disable screensaver via the application.library from the applications which needed this feature. (Such as games or video apps.)

That's only half a solution, and best used for video players when there won't be any input at all.

Monitoring joystick events will stop the screenblanking when playing games, without the application having to worry about application.library - hence will work in all cases where you are using the joystick and not mouse or keyboard.

That would work for pure games programs, but what about stuff like E-UAE where such a "solution" doesn't really make sense since the program can't possibly know if you're playing a game or not?

F.e. it is very annoying when I'm playing Alien Breed with my Competition Pro USB and the screenblanker kicks in while I'm being overrun by aliens.

IMO, the emulator might avoid the screensaver by default or by option. It would make sense to me.

Then popup Exchange, find and select ScreenBlanker in the list, then click on "Deactivate". Your screenblanker is deactivated, you can play alien breed

@chris
Application.library has a "enter game mode"/"exit game mode" which should be used by any new program, this would benefit the whole system IMHO because every interested registered soft will be notified of that.

Now let's examine the hypothetical scenario that I have a 68k app that only accepts joystick input...

It can't be that difficult to monitor AmigaInput events in the screenblanker, surely?

I don't think that 68k app would use AmigaInput, so it wouldn't be much usefull.

It could be using f.e. lowlevel.library, which in OS4 works as a kind of wrapper for amigainput.library.

CIAgiant might able to reroute CIA hits to AmigaInput maybe.
