@eroom thanks for confirming

@tomsonic Would the ability to stream AAC be possible in a future version?

Thanks

Something wrong with local charset handling in the new build. All Russian text looks like ????? for me now. Check this out:

AmigaAmp 3.14 buld 233 (all fine):

Resized Image

AmigaAmp 3.15 build 252 (???? everywhere):

Resized Image

Rested it few times by simple swapping main executables and it is 100% reproducable : previous one all ok, new one all in ??? (in all other parts of system all ok too of course).

Seems like the new utf8 decoding backfired for you.

I tried this station:
http://213.208.177.14:8004

and i get no ???? but

Artist: авЎа" в МПскве - 97,2FM -
Title: РаЎОП "КПЌсПЌПльская правЎа" в
МПhttp://213.208.177.1

I think they display like that because i don't have a cyrillic keymap installed

Same revision of AmigaAmp (252)

Does AmigaAMP support AAC files at all??? I thought it only supported AAC-encoded M4A files, which is a different thing.

@kas1e Oops! I need to check! Normally the routine is supposed to decode UTF-8 to your local charset which should work for latin as well as for kyrillic. I'll have a look at it after Easter.

@trixie AAC files/streams are currently not supported by AmigaAMP. So far only AAC encoded MP4 files work.

But there is a TuneNet plugin for AAC files AFAIK.

AAC radio stations are a different thing though. Are there many of them? I don't know if AAC radio stations use SHOUTCAST. I'm afraid they use DASH instead.

Supporting them would make sense because I've recently finished an AAC encoder plugin for ADRipper, so people can now easily produce AAC files from their CD tracks.

Out of curiosity: what was wrong with the iconv-based routine I sent you?

Way not just display the UTF8 directly instead of converting it back to ASCII.

Neither Intuition nor Graphics Library support displaying UTF8 strings directly.

Most of the stuff in Bullet Library was moved into Diskfont library. Bullet Library is a legacy API (680x0 only).

It should be easy for core AmigaOS4 developers to add support to display UTF8 text.

Intuition is irrelevant because this its a custom gui.

The track info window ("Project/Info" in the menu) that displays the UTF8-encoded metadata is done using Intuition. There's nothing custom about it.

Anyway its time some did some thing whit Intuition, the way menus are implemented where graphics is just drawn on top of screen graphics, its not a good way to do it, I remember in AmigaOS3.x there was hack called magic menus that solved many of problem that related to menus and how they are drawn, I believe it used windows to mimic menus.

The source code is even available.

bullet.library (for the AGFA compugraphic fonts used by AmigaOS 2.1-3.9) may be m68k, but the API isn't, it's still used by all font engines (incl. ft2.library which is used for TrueType, OpenType, etc. fonts).
You can still use it directly, but of course it's easier with the new diskfont.library functions.

Indeed that's whay I said Bullet API (not bullet.library)

@trixie

Ofcourse the window is intuition it would have a hard time interacting with the workbench screen (or any other screen) other wise. Can you even build a View from scratch with graphics lib calls these days?

Nothing would stop you creating a gadget to display UTF-8 though. Ofcourse if it's needs to be editable that's whole extra can of beans

@LiveForIt

Not sure where the menu rant came from but how do you know they aren't windows allready? AmigaOS4 menus seem very window like to me. Even if not they must render on top of all other graphics else they would be useless.

Magic Menu was great in it's day, but lacks much compared with the modern AmigaOS4 menus.
