I did note a bug that i can reproduce:

Wnen trying to read the documentation in .pdf form

- double click on the line in the lister
- choose to sniff
- choose to create a filetype
- edit the name of the filetype in the filetypecreator
- click on edit button in filetype crerator window => crash

Stack trace:
creator_editor_proc_init()+0x0 (section 1 @ 0x1BA0)
native kernel module kernel+0x0005ec08

Question: Is it possible to use the helpkey from a SAM460ex ? If yes how?
I suppose editing the keymap, but how exactly?

Yep, i can easy reproduce it. Ignore DSI make it work through, so should be something not very hardcore. And you even not need to change name, just sniff/create/edit make it crash.

Is there a way to use the "help" key feature of dopus5 with PC keyboard on SAM's ?
I don't see how to manipulate keymap to acheave this.
Is there an other way?

If not could this be implemented with some priority?
Would make testing & exploring more fun and easy

You mean you want just binding on the "help" key to spawn help.guide in multiview ? If so, then via dopus5 it seems indeed a problem, as you can't type in "key" anything like f11,f12, help, home, etc. That probably something we need add too (if those keys not used in dopus5 already for reasons).

But if it what you want, then in meantime you can just use FKEY for it. I.e. just setup it like this:

Key Sequence: HELP
Command: Run Programm
Command parameters: multiview dopus5:help/help.guide

And once you will press "HELP", then help guide will spawns just like you choice Opus/Help from menu.

What i want to exploit is
"Opus Context Sensitive Help
Directory Opus 5 provides extensive context-sensitive help.
Simply move the mouse pointer over an object in the current
window and press the Help key. This will lookup the object in the
Opus 5 AmigaGuide-based help system and display the details of
the object, button, or command pointed to by the mouse pointer.
If the mouse pointer is over an Opus 5 Custom Button, the help
system will display information on the first command attached to
that button. Of course, Opus 5 can only show details of its own
internal commands. It cannot show details for script files or calls
to AmigaDOS programs."

Dopus5 is not the only vintage application making use of the amigaguide context sensitive help. So it would be great to have it on OS4.1 NG machines too.

I guess to use FKEY for this you need at least feed it the right node
of the Amigaguide document.
Maybe the simplest method would be to make that info available as en environmental variable?

BTW the names of the files in help/ are
CDOpus.guide 46409 ----rw-d 14-May-96 18:43:48
DOpus5.guide 149478 ----rw-d 26-Sep-98 22:49:10
DOpusFuncs.guide 46647 ----rw-d 14-May-96 18:50:16
info 20920 ----rwed Yesterday 12:22:43

CDOpus.guide and DopusFuncs.guide seem to be the same doc (installation help , CD description)
Maybe a DopusFuncs.guide was overwritten?

I tried multiview on the info file too, not clear what this binary file is.

I would also recommend to testers and users to use Next instead of Multiview, for easy searching in the .guide document

I was just going to write the same thing: the Help key is mapped to the Scroll Lock key when using a PC keyboard - it has been for years. I don't think JosDuchlt's keymap needs any changes.

Should't help be mapped to help key, and not to scroll lock ?:) I mean kind of strange for user to have Help key on keyabord, but instead use scrolllock for what help key is used to be.

AFAIK the RAWKEY_HELP input event, or 0x5F (see libraries/keymap.h), is mapped to the Help key when one is physically present, and to Scroll Lock when it isn't.

There is no help key on standard PC keyboard, else it probably would be.

If on a non standard PC keyboard there is a help key, then likely the non standard keyboard would need an non standard keymap. (And the code issued by that key would need to be recognised).

Better if the HELP key was mapped to F12, KWM Switches often use Scroll Lock key as function key, and they can't be reconfigured. No AmigaOS program uses F12.

One is never to old to learn. Very happy with the presence of a usable help-key

@LiveForIt

I always thought the "menu" key next to R_Ctl was the CP help key.
Only discovered it's name by looking at keymaps. As it is not present on Amiga keyboards either, has an icon (and not text) that could be interpreted as "help", i would favor it's usage as a help key.

In fact i am going to adapt my keymap in that way.
