Those of you who use a 6870 in the x1000, how do you like it? The cost of a refurb card is reasonable & it should be faster then my 4850. I do enjoy 3D & videos.
Look, only one leg, count em, one! X1000/PA6T@1800MHz/2Gb/Radeon 4850
Speaking only for 2D and normal days work...never had a problem with it, working great and doing what it should...but i guess that covers all of the Radeon HD cards right now.
I'd believe that once 3D and hardware acceleration gets available we can measure the differences...
So from this poll, it would seems that there are numerically more SAM460 and X1000 machines in use than original AmigaOnes...?
It probably shouldn't, but that surprises me. It also gives me hope that Amigakit/AEon/ACube are getting enough business to justify their work and investments. Long may it continue.
Which AmigaOnes can use the Radeon HD 4xxx-7xxx cards? Is it just X1000?
As someone else said, they also work well with the Sam460. However, they can also be used with a Sam440 and an unfixed A1-XE. This is either using a PCI variant, or a PCI to PCIe bridge. Few people do this though, due to lack of 3D. Plus the PCI bus and bridge hamper performance. You need a machine with a genuine PCIe bus to get the most out of these cards.

It certainly looks that way. There have only been 69 responses so far though, so there is probably a sizable margin of error. A few of the Radeon 8xxx-9xxx's will be from people who use it in their A1-X1000 as their secondary card.
@all I'm hoping to get responses from more people, so feel free to advertise this poll elsewhere. One downside to creating the poll here is that only amigans.net members can "vote." Still, the more responses the better.
Thanks, but that poll doesn't allow multiple selections, and I know that some people have multiple machines/cards. The upside of having to log in, is that it virtually eliminates the possiblity of "voting" multiple times by tricking the server.
Main card in my X1000 is Radeon HD 6850. Until recently I used a couple of different (not at same time, of course) HD cards as a second card, but just started using a Radeon 9200 in a PCI-X adapter and am getting much-improved performance out of Blender using Warp3d with it over previous solutions I tried.
I got the 6870 because at the time it was the most recommended card for running Linux and I wanted to help test some things
I noticed Streaming tends to be smooth and seamless with audio in sync via embedded video like youtube and alike when comparing Odysseys performance between my machines.
So, in a nutshell, yes, it's a great card. It's alot quieter than my 4890 which used to dwell in that X1000 and it's also quieter than my 7970 in the other one.
