Assuming this is a fresh install, and not using files from previous versions of Odyssey (that had a missing symbol in fonts.conf), then what filesystem are you using on the partition Odyssey is installed on? I think the font cache files are quite long in their file names.

Then again, I don't know if FFS has a smaller character limit than SFS these days. I've never used FFS on OS4.

@Syper,

Go to your Odyssey folder, then, into font/ and delete fonts.conf and .cache files.
Relaunch Odyssey, he will search another time for fonts and initialize. after that, close Odyssey, soft boot your Amiga and run Odyssey = All must be ok now...

@Syper,

Before doing all this I recommended, have you installed the fonts with the small utility ??
Retry (delete all your Odyssey Browser, reinstall, X2 clics on download fonts, launch the soft after that and if you get the same problems (initializing fonts all the time, then delete .cache files and font.conf file into font drawer and relaunch : and it must work...)

Did what you said.. still does the same "(initializing fonts"
its like the font cache file is not even there..like Odyssey doesn't remember it..anyways its driving me INSANE!.. Thank You for your help ..think i'm just gonna stick with Netsurf..only browser that seems to work ok for me

Maybe its JXFS that has a bug, all my partitions are SFS2,
(With exception of the small FFS partition needed by CFE on AmigaONE-X1000.)

My understanding is that JXFS is bit experimental/beta filesystem.

Oddessy should generate the font cache only once.

I have here JXFS installed and it works well with Odyssee. JXFS is not recommend to use it because it is only beta

Problem Solved! This was driving me insane lol..what i did was assign my Fonts: to a parition that has jXFilesystem and moved Odyssey to that Partiton also same with Timberwolf because i could never get Timberwolf to load at all..anyways by doing that Timberwolf loaded! also when it started int fonts again it did that super fast! then 2nd launch was even faster! btw i was using SFS on my System4.1: Partition..

So all is good now :) when i get a chance i'm going to change my System4.1: over to jXFilesystem..

Thanks Guys for your Help :)

Well I'm use SFS2 not SFS, SFS is really old.

fonts again it did that super fast!

Sound like your being using FastFileSystem.
FastFileSystem is not fast.

I don't think the boot loader support JXFS.
and way when jXFilesystem is just problems?

Common misunderstanding.

SFS\0 and SFS\2 are just two different instances of the same SmartFileSystem. They can be created with the same binary SmartFileSystem.

The differences are that SFS\2 can handle bigger volumes and bigger files, while SFS\0 has (some) repair tool support, which is non-existant for SFS\2.

So I would recommend everybody to use SFS\0 for all partitions except those few which you need to either be bigger than (I think it is) 128 GB, or on which you need to store files of 2 GB or more in size (e.g. DVD ISO images). Those should be SFS\2, and should be backed up with extra eagerness and care - don't forget to test recovering your backups .

Best regards,

Niels
