What options for DataBase connectivity do we currently have?

I've run into a bundle of items where a database server maybe one answer and was wondering what all the options are?

I've browsed Aminet and OS4depot.net,
I'm after any DB option for programming use in addition to general access.

MySQL and mSQL appear to be the only options.

Is anyone considering MongoDB, CouchDB or anything else not SQL based?

There's also sqlite, which is great if you want a database without having to set up a server. There's also iODBC for database programming that's independent of which particular database engine/backend the user wants to use.

I haven't heard of even considering porting a NoSQL database like MongoDB to AmigaOS.

Have you looked at MuiBase?

Does anyone know of a simple database that just lets me organise large amounts of data?

It must have a listview, a filter to show matching results in a list, import tsv files (created with list). I'm talking about 50,000 entries, most of the 68k programs are to slow or just fall over dealing with that much data.

At the moment I'm using the dos commands list and search but that's not a brilliant solution.

Yes, I have looked aat MUIbase and it doesn't work for what I need.

I'm considering the replication and storage of a DB mirrored on AmigaOS4/MorphOS and Linux/Windows/Mac.

I'm actively thinking I'll have to dedicate an RPi or two with browser only access from the Amiga OS

EDIT: touchpanel typing seriously doesn't work for me...

I've been looking at MongoDB wondering whether to try or not myself...

I usually work with the old SuperBase 4 ( works fine in OS4 and there's a Win version).

I have a 23000 CD's and vinyl database, and it's very fast and flexible.

How ARexx friendly is it?

Other than that I intend building a dataset for a programming project.

as for 23000 entries, I need about 3x that at least for current estimates.

It seems that someone is working on Open Office. I assume that will have the database. I use OO database for all my data. I have high hopes for OO.

I have Superbase Pro 4, it did not work on OS4 last time I tried it.

Works fine in my Sam 440 Flex with 4.1u6.
It's the v1.30i

I have all my music in a long database.
Make a little script that read the cd, format the list and add the fields to the databse.

And it's fast.

I think no ARexx, have his proper language named DML.

It looks like people are talking about different types of database systems. Belxjander is asking about SQL/NoSQL database servers/systems, which are used by developers (like him) to build database-driven applications. For example, my websites use MySQL databases to store the content, user info, etc.

By contrast, Superbase, MUIBase, MS Access & Open Office's database are designed for end-users and come with GUIs for data entry and searching. While useful, they're not what Belxjander is looking for. He's looking for a "database engine," not a "database application/management-system."
