If you have to take out a hd to be able to boot. I suspect you have same boot priority or same name on boot devices on both hds. Check it out in mediatoolbox.

How are the drives connected? On the builtin IDE, an SiI0680 IDE PCI card, or a SATA card?

Either way, you can have both drives connected and select one via the boot priority, as mentioned above. Or, if they are on two different interfaces (e.g. one on builtin IDE, the other on 0680, or one IDE and one SATA), you can select which to boot in UBoot.

Best regards,

Niels

No, I don't believe the 9800 model will work.

You lucky ...

I was never able to use more than 512MB on my XE

If you get it to work flawlessly even when the 512MB barrier has been breached i salute you

btw...welcome back to the madhouse

The graphics card should be automatically selected.

You should just be going into screenmode prefs and selecting your resolution.

You haven't said if your gfx card comes up in Prefs/Screenmodes, yet?
If it doesn't, you can try to put the line

DDCMODE=All

in the tooltypes, reboot and see what happens.

I don't know why the windows would be "sluggish", i hope your card isn't dying.

Have you tried to switch to the 9000 and cross-check?
