I saw that too. I think we need a DirectShow or gStreamer type system so it would be possible for the browsers to support ObjectRTC or WebRTC. Interestingly Randal Jessup of AmigaOS fame worked on WebRTC at Mozilla.

Here's to hoping!

Sure, if you want Microsoft sharing your phone and video calls to government and other third parties.

Yeah I have been trying to encourage web cam support for a long time but it is such a low priority for AmigaOS development apparently.

"but is not there something in ztools?"

no, in zTools, there is LittleBrother.
It's a program to display in your Dock pictures of Internet webcam. These webcams have to update a picture (examples of available webcams in the ReadMe)

Nothing related to Skype, unfortunately ;)

"but it is such a low priority for AmigaOS development apparently."

Webcams that connect by USB require support for "Isochronous transfers". Yes, weird name, but that's what they are called in the USB spec.

Our current USB stack has some limited support for this type of transfer, but it is not complete across all interface types.

At some point in the future this may change, but right now there are a lot of other things that need attention too.
