What partition table should i use for an external drive?
MSDOS or GPT, both available on GParted liveCD (Amiga too, but i get errors and not much help )
Intended use in order of priority
backup Amiga partitions
keep SAM 440ep & SAM460ex "synchronised"
keep some lesser synch with my laptop's Amikit install
have a bootable Linux partition

As it's only for amiga use I'd go with RDB. If your using an eSATA drive everything should be fine.

@Severin

I have abndoned (for now) a GParted Live CD for partitioning & used Mediatoolbox to create 2 Amiga partitions.

BTW Mediatoolbox corrected the GParted Amiga RDB & maybe the errors i got there are gone now.

ALinux boot partition on the external HD is also on my wishlist (although lowest, i better handel all of iit neow tha i still have no data in the external drive.

Can i add one under mediatolbox? i don't see how
Or try with Gparted

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but is it possible to use a USB device with RDB/SFS on WinUAE?

I mean, I have tried to mix MBR/FAT with RDB/SFS to some extent, just to be able to read the data in case all my Amigas die. But if I can do this on WinUAE there is no need to have MBR/FAT on the device at all.

Yes, sure. You need to run WinUAE as Administrator and use the "add harddrive" option.
