Note also that some of these low profile cards can run hot as the fan ends up close to the sata card in the Sam460 .

Cant say that there is a perfect card yet.
In my quest to get a nice experience on Amiga OS 4.1 starting with a Sam440ep-flex and now a Sam460ex I have tried over a dozen Radeon HD models.

My current Sam460ex option is to use a PCIE riser cable to position my video card off the Sam460ex motherboard. I stared with the riser cable using a dual slot Radeon HD6670 and then switched to the low profile single slot Radeon HD7750.
I purchased a pair of the Radeon HD7750's early last year and never expected to be using one so soon for Warp3D as I was expecting Warp3D for the Radeon HD6670 card.

If you want to keep things simple then if you can find a fully height single slot HD7750 or R7-250E as this is your best option for things to run cool as the fan wont be fully blocked by the Sata card.

Radeon R7 250 is Oland based so it won't work with the W3D SI driver.

Just to clarify, Oland GPUs won't work with the RadeonHD.chip driver.

I've been trying to find a W3D SI compatible Radeon card for my Sam460 but the only card I've found so far that doesn't take up two slots and doesn't cost a lot of money is a R7 240 (Oland PRO) card so I guess I will have to wait for the Evergreen driver whenever it arrives.

The PCIE extender cable is probably the best solution for the Sam460ex .

The 3 Gig HD7970 is in the RadeonHD compatibility list (Sapphire models). The HD7970 is also listed in the Warp3D compatibility list.

This is too much information to digest easily. So what's the recommended card for a SAM460ex running AmigAS 4.1 FE, and to be compatible with the Southern Islands drivers?

SAM460EX OS4.1 FE, MorphOS 3.9 in Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz. Acer Aspire One with AROS Icaros Desktop 2.0.3, FPGA Arcade Workbench 3.1 & 3.9. MiST FPGA Minimig Amiga AGA

Great to see updates.
I did 2 mins testing last night. Only tried cow3d but did not see any difference in performance on my X1000. 95-98fps.
Still cannot break the 100fps barrier.

Saw an increase in the gfxbench score though. My X1000 now sits in second place.

Will try the other benchmarks tonight.

AmigaOne X1000.
Radeon RX550

Sounds like you still have the old 1.8 driver installed...
