Re: SMTube : new version on OS4Depot

Very good and fast work! I have tested it here on my X1000, and have been able to play and download YouTube videos. There are some I cannot download or play, for example the official video of "Uptown Funk." But I think that might have been the same case with the old SMTube.

One thing different that creates a slight amount of extra effort for me: In the old SMTube I could set 360p streaming resolution and 720p resolution for downloads. Now I have to set 360 or 720 in a common place and change it for the operation I want to do. Not a big deal, but thought I would note the difference. As far as the new SMTube thinks, the download operation is just simply another player, I realize.

Also, the new browser interface is a bit pokey and it, like the old SMTube, does not always redraw itself when parts of the window get covered by another window. Probably a QT thing.

Anyway, thanks!

I've not used SMTube until today. Thanks very much for the app, and the detailed instructions in this thread on installing it and appropriate prerequisite libraries.

The app works great, and has opened up a lot of YouTube videos that I couldn't possibly watch on my X1000 before.

I do wish there were controls for FF, REW, Pause etc. but I think I understand why not...and am just happy to be able to stream the videos. Thanks!

Yes, as download is now forbidden by YouTube, I doubt that Ricardo will do something about a second Quality chooser.

For now, there is "DownloadVideo.rexx" as "player" but when I will merge the OS4 change to Rvm repository, I will have to remove it.

Therefore, DownloadVideo.rexx will be put on OS4Depot and will have to be added manually in the Settings (but if you keep your Qt:home/.config/smtube/smtube2.ini it will be OK)

@mbrantley @Nagasakee

Happy that it works fine

Are some users that only have "Open with DownloadVideo.rexx" and NOT "Open with PlayVideo.rexx" int the contextual menu ?

Thx

Very true, however rather than Guillaume i think we should ask Ricardo for that

no need to double-click.

Only a single click is needed to start the video with the first player selected (PlayVideo.rexx by default)

Tested on Picture of the video (at left) and to the blue hyperlink text at right.

Try and report please.

Otherwise, no one have problem with contextual menu lacking "PlayVideo.rexx" ?

Yep, but as Tommy said a double click would be better than a single click, because actually it's very easy to (unespected) open a video twice

Well a problem still here too, sometimes (even after you have opened the menu) the items will not be highlighted as they should, that means you need to do an extra click again to really select somethings ...

The new SMTube interface looks and acts like a browser so the single click to launch video seems OK to me. But I can deal with bit either way.

mbrantley is very right.

Now, SMTube interface is based on QWebView.

It uses linkClicked Signal on a link.

connect(view->page(), SIGNAL(linkClicked(const QUrl&)), this, SLOT(processLink(const QUrl&)));

If you look at the video thumbnail when you click on it, you will see that it's simply a web link. Like the text at his right.

And there is no linkDoubleClick signal on a URL link

See here the signals part, if you want :
http://doc.qt.io/qt-4.8/qwebview.html#signals

If you don't see "Play with PlayVideo.rexx" on SMTube contextual menu, check that Amiga/PlayVideo.rexx have the Execute attribute.

Just open with NotePad the file "PlayVideo.rexx" and modify the line

DEBUG = ON

to ----> OFF

Aniway i agree that disable it by default would be better, Guillaume what do you think ?

Personaly, I prefer to see when MPlayer cache is filling or simply to see if the YT URL is really retrieved.

PlayVideo.rexx is not replaced by AMiUpdate, therefore if you don't want DEBUG, as Samo79 said, just put DEBUG=OFF.

Phantom, does it work ?
