Hi,

I didn't read the entire thread, but the early posts suggesting problems regarding the use of large textures ( > 1024 pixels wide) might be related to a bug reported here:

http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2955

There is a debug-build version 53.11 W3D_Picasso96.library available here which may (or may not) fix the issue but should help determine what's going on in the low level VRAM allocator for non SI cards (they use their own allocator):

A new port of Fish Fillets would be nice.
The version on OS4Depot.net features a bug which has been fixed in the latest release 1.0.1.

What's new

Fixed a bug in the last levels. Fish were unable to swim to some places. It happened next to the room border. The bug was introduced in version 0.9.2. Big thanks Radek and Mirek Olsak for discovering it.

iirc kas1e did the 0.9.2 port, but i'm not sure he's got time for a new release?

He might have time for it, you'd better ask him first. Since the source is not included I'd rather not do a port from scratch if he could recompile the new version.

This is just like television, only you can see much further.

Just a note regarding my earlier post. If you are using a RadeonHD based graphics card, the updated W3D_Picasso96.library is not relevant to your configuration.

The changes are relevant o R100, R200, Voodoo and Permedia configurations only.

I tried W3D_Picasso96.library, and it fixed the allocation of 2048x2048 textures for me. Excellent job!

Good.

Can you provide me with the debug output from the driver? I'm keen to see how the allocator is behaving this close to the limits of the underlying bitmap implementation.

The driver should be logging data to the debug buffer.

Cheers

Can you repory your system config, including all versions of installed Warp3D components? Another developer is reporting that the same debug driver crashes his system.

Can you repeat your 2048x2048 texture tests on a 16 bit screenmode?

Sorry, I've been really busy. I'll do the test later today, and gather the info about the W3D components, debug log, etc.

It's quite likely you'll run into problems with 2K 32-bit textures on 16-bit displays.

I'd say the first installment is much better. The jungle segment in the second game is really annoying. Anyway, it's hard to tell whether it can be ported or not. Please contact Raven Software and/or Activision to release the source code of the game, so I can take a look at it.

Plex looks like quite a large program, and it's written in C++ too, which is always a minefield due to the outdated compiler. The media server part is closed source, and I wonder how useful the frontend is without it.
