I started this new topic because I have problem with Vice and the Speed-link Competition Pro USB..
The joypad works fine with all games I tested but I was never able to use it with Vice (version 2.1 and 2.2). With Vice the Speed-link has a strange behaviour, the main character of any video games I try to play keeps going on the left part of the screen.. I suspect there is a problem with the x/y-axis under Vice..
Is there anyone that can try it? and maybe help me to find a solution? it is a pity that I cannot use it with the Amiga..
Please could somebody bring us state of art version of Vice or maybe CCS64? As my opinnion working C64 emulator is most important software for Amiga, I'am ready to show my support with some money.
on my X1000 today versions of Vice (2.1 - 2.4) are very unusable, they crash and emulation quality is poor (sound, speed etc)
Thanks, the last version of Vice for AmigaOS4 has two big bugs: the first is the USB Competition Pro problem and the second is the sound option.. If you click on the sound option it won't open the prefs and you cannot set the audio output and you cannot set the Khz and so the sound is weird and distorted..
On my X1000 emulation quality is poor, sound is low quality and speed is little slow. Version 2.1 worked earlier much better but now it is keep crashing.
I remember that somewhere between OS4.0 to 4.1 I got getting these guality broblems, earlier when I had Micro A1 I had same problems.
So I think it allso something to do with OS itself, something has changed during upgrades, that's my quess.
Anyone alse, try Vice versions 2.1 and 2.4 do you see emulation difference?
IIRC the emulator will crash when changing language for VICE, in my case from english to swedish. I have not seen a crash from runing a game.
I think that it's only the Competition Pro that got this problem. I have a joypad that works fine. On the other hand the Competition Pro works with UAE, Hatari and what not and from what I've read it also works fine on MOS and Windows so seems to be AOS 4.x specific.
@Cass Reported you say, but to who? Are the VICE developers, or the author of the Amiga port aware of these problems? Anyway, I got VICE 2.4 from the official website, and I get an instant crash trying to run any of the emulators. I'll try to build the latest tagged revision, which is currently 2.4.20.

Maybe little bit off topic but not so much. I bought for my C64 IDE64 cardridge and there is possibility to transfer files between pc and C64 by using USB PClink (http://singularcrew.hu/idedos/ideserv-0.29c-20150214.zip) What do you guys think could this be easilly portable for Amiga, ofcourse I would like to use Amiga for file transfering
I'll check it out, but first I want to fix Vice. I already fixed a quite a few issues (including the ones found by Spirantho), which was enough to get it up and running. I still have broken sound, and low framerate, unless I bring up the menu a few times. I may or may not be able to fix this, but I'll try to get my changes into the official repo, so others can have a look at it too.
