Not exactly a helpful report but I'm guessing that you don't have "Parent to root view" activated in prefs. Activate that and you should be fine. I'll make sure the gadget is deactivated when you don't have that setting in the next release.

Good work!
Now I think the most urgent thing to do was a context menu...
And maybe the possibility to mix user buttons with program toolbar(I dont like much the user button at bottom)...
Filer just have really many features atm...

Maybe you will remeber that I've comment a few time that FileCX doesn't always bring up Filer after a double click. I think you even posted the source once....

Well I've no idea if this will help debug it, but I noticed recently that when the double click is failing, pressing a qualifier key at the same time allows it to succede, it doesn't seem to matter which qualifier.

Odd but maybe worth mentioning, even if it doesn't lead anywhere.

I have some feature request

- Would be usefull if Filer can remember the latest file selected if you go to the parent directory.
On Windows for example if you select a file and then go to the parent dir and then (again) you come back, the file manager remember the latest file selected (highlighting it)

- Adding a new method to show the various file: a list view!

See this grab:

http://www.adobe.com/it/devnet/flash/ ... /custom_flvcomp/fig06.gif

This is so usefull because if you have a lot of files listed you can found what you want more easily (and fast)

- Adding a classic Workbench view, view by icon !

All this type of view (and maybe also thumbnail support) could be made accessible via a simple drop down menu on the top of the Filer's GUI (for easy and quick access)

What do you think ?

I agree with your ideas they sound usefull.

@orgin

Is there a chance that filer can remember for certain dirs and have opened in auto-thumbnail mode? I mean, I usually don't need thumbs and thus it's faster/easier to have them turned off, but still I have a couple of dirs where I store my photos and there I better have thumbs enabled. If it's too much work, let it be, doesn't worth the effort, not too important. It could be partially solved though with samo79's idea above to have a cycle gadget that changes the lister view on the fly.

Again thanks for your great work, I rarely fire up dopus4 anymore :)

Yeah, I've switched from DOpus also. Using Filer can be very addictive, especially if you run the commodity that brings up a lister on a double-click.

Thanks, Orgin!

> Automatic Icons

This will copy/delete etc icons automatically.

> Accellerate Icons

This will speed up icon handling by keeping the icons in the current path in memory. Useful when sorting for example.

> Persistent Select

Diropus style selection. Rows stay selected until you manually deselect them

> OS4Depot

Check the user defined button section in the readme. Particularly the internal commands part.

Depends, how exactly would you want that to work. In terms of multiple listers, reboots and so forth.

As has been said numerous times before, new views are totally dependent on gadgets classes being available that can show said views. I don't do custom gadget classes but others are welcome to provide some.

Just like to say that I'm realy happy with those picture thumbnails !
And it's not that slow at all, well it's a lot slower but very usable !

Great work !

Would it be possible to add somehow the possiblity to drag WB drawer or discs into a filer in a way that it opens in a filer and not being copied ?
Or open a wb disc or drawer and automaticly open it in a filer ?

Oh, amd an option for dual listers ? (opus4) or with a dir-tree to the left ? (WinExplorer)

Thanks !

Martin
