Amiga OS 4.1 Software Top 10
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

See User information
Okay yet another thread of mine, I think there will be a lot more interest in this one.

Please post your top 10 favourite Amiga OS 4.1 Applications and include a link or a mention where they can be downloaded from; if not on OS4 Depot.

If your feeling adventurous I'd love to see a screenie of it running on your machine.

Thanks in advance.

OWB
Mplayer
Dopus4
Filer
WookieChat
PFTP
Tunenet

That all what i use mostly. There is also some cool apps which i use from time to time, like DiskImageDevice (mounting of isos/etc) and inbuild Sgrab utility from aos4 distrib (for making screenshots :) ).

And of course shell + kcon (kcon it's replacement of default con:, because by default aos4 have ugly and primitive shell still) and notepad :)

Is AmiUpdate part of the OS now? If yes does this update itself or do you have to visit a website to update the updater?

AmiUpdate isn't on the installation CD, so it's not a part of the OS. Even so, I consider it to be very useful if not essential. Yes, it does update itself automatically.

No not part of OS, seperate install. AmiUpdate updates itself, no need to ever go to the website. Although I've tried it out, decided not to install on my system.

Top 10:
1. OWB
2. Celestia
3. Tunenet
4. SimpleMail
5. ADRipper
6. ArtEffect4
7. LoView

All of these should be available from OS4Depot:

1. OWB (need I say more?)
2. TuneNet (awesome music player, which I use this ALL the time!)
3. Filer (couldn't use Workbench without it)
4. SimpleMail (very good email program)
5. RunInUAE (very easy running of old Amiga games *)
6. FolderSync2 (keeps my data files synced between Amiga & PC, but not on OS4Depot yet *)
7. ClipDown + MPlayer + GetVideo (the only way to watch YouTube videos at the moment)
8. PictureAlbum (picture browser/organiser, not yet on OS4Depot *)
9. DvPlayer (very good video player, but I'm waiting for subtitle support)
10. WookieChat (IRC client)

11. CygnusEd 5 (an awesome text editor)
12. PortablE (programming language, which I use to write my programs *)
13. SDK Browser

* = okey, I wrote this program, so sue me for liking it!

1. Digital Universe

The ONLY OS 4.1 app worth having IMHO, but as the co-author I may be *slightly* biased

2. 3D Stars - also mine.

Both are also ones of the few not a port from another platform but true Amiga developed apps!

Others I use in no particular order,

IBrowse, YAM, DOpus4, GoldEd, MoneyMatters, Wordworth, HP11C, AmiFTP, Organiser, DVPlayer, ImageFX.

For relaxation (or maybe frustration) Soliton, PipePanic, MahjonghhTiles.

And in future Timberwolf, very promising so far for an alpha.

Bill.

I do use: most
OS4 native:
Gui4Cli scripting language and all gui's i wrote fori it http://users.online.be/AD/
Notepad
OWB
FTPMount
RemoteDesktop ( i use it mainly to use printer attached to PC)
MPlayer

OS3
CygnusED. There is an OS4 version that can be bougth from http://www.vesalia.de/e_cygnused.htm
Wordworth7
BareEd fhttp://www.bareed.de/

An other good question might be: what do you regret most that is not working (well) under OS4.1
My greatest regret "scripit" If you don't know it have al look at it under OS2 (Aminet)

Imho, Digital Universe totally unmodern. Its like you use some good programm, but done in the 1980 year. More visuals, more animation, more dinamic and graphics are need it for (imho of course).
