RunInUAE crashing (was: testers needed for RunInUAE)
Home away from home
Home away from home

I need a few people to heavily test the next release of RunInUAE. Please email me (you can find my address here).

There aren't any *exciting* improvements, but there are enough changes that it could use some testing to ensure it doesn't crash or misbehave badly.

Thanks for those who have already offered to help. I will contact you within the next day or so.

As I've been making some fairly radical changes to RunInUAE's menus, I've decided that I need more than "a few people", so more testers would be welcome

Question:

Will we ever have JIT with RunInUAE?

@sicky
Technically speaking, RunInUAE has nothing to do with JIT. RunInUAE just uses the best version of UAE that we have. And at the moment none of our UAEs has JIT...

... however, thanks to a bounty, someone is working on JIT for UAE:

Hi Chris H :)

Thanks for a very good program, just had a few amigans at my house playing
some amiga favourites in RunInUAE :)

I have a short question though , Im not sure when it started but after I made
some changes to my AmiDock and also started a game in RunInUAE while
Tunenet was running some SlayRadio , I get the Grim Reaper sometimes when
double clicking an ADF file also when launching a game by dragging a ADF file into the the RunInUAE icon in the dock, I can Ignore DSI and start a game and play nicely after that. The GReaper shows its RinghioServer that "crashes".

Any idea?

Thanks,
Martin aka Paladine aka NinjaDNA o_O

By the way AlfKil looked at the GR output and said ,and I quote :
"Strange..." hehe

RunInUAE does now use Ringhio for showing certain messages (such as that a game is starting). I'll have a look at my code, to see if I am doing anything obviously wrong.

EDIT: My code appears to be fine, so I will need more info from you - see my post below.

Is Ringhio still producing GrimReapers when RunInUAE starts a game? If it *is*, then please open a Shell & copy+paste this command into it:
Quote:
RX "Sys:Documentation/Ringhio/rx_testringhio.rexx"

Does this also produce a GrimReaper from Ringhio?

Also, a Crash Log from the Grim Reaper might help.

@Paladine
I am told that a future update MAY fix the problem, so unfortunately we will have to wait and see...

@Paladine Quote:
Im not sure when it started but after I made
some changes to my AmiDock and also started a game in RunInUAE while
Tunenet was running some SlayRadio , I get the Grim Reaper sometimes when
double clicking an ADF file also when launching a game by dragging a ADF file into the the RunInUAE icon in the dock, I can Ignore DSI and start a game and play nicely after that. The GReaper shows its RinghioServer that "crashes".

Do you still get this problem after installing Update 5?
