Here is a little teaser of a new program called FlipPaper. This one will change your backgrounds now and then depending on what you choosed. Its working really nice and you can add a path to a drawer with all your backdrops. You can make it autochange wallpaper every minutes, hours or days.

Hopefully it gets released asap. If you like it dont forget to donate to the author Guillamue.

The program is already very stable and usable, if you have problems in your configuration check your OS4 installation

Tempario :

True, it's a standard "feature" under MorphOS.

When I will release it (certainly this evening), if it failed on your SAM thank to keep me informed.

On my Amiga, no problem of course.

If you speak about Layout for Wallpaper,
there are "Scaled" by default, "Centered" and "Tiled"

It was that the question ?

Tested, looks pretty nice, and banner at top pretty stylish one. Didn't have any DSIs what also good.

Notice through some slowdowns: when run program cpu going 100% and move of mouse start to be jerky until interface not show up. Then, after running it i just for sake of test press "chancel" - all going to slowdown mode again and something happens while imho should'n (as there is nothing to chancel after running). Choice then any picture, and press "test" -> all going to slowdown and 100% cpu for about 10-15 secs, then image showups on workbench, but still, if i let's say choice the same image from wbpattern, there is no slowdowns at all as well as all show ups very fast (in a second or so).

Thanks for test Kas1e.

1) Is these slowdown appears too with FastView if you load the picture and that you push "Set as wallpaper" in "Option" tab ?

2) How can I reproduce these slowndowns ? Pictures from which resolution ?

On my system, I can change wallpapers every minute without problem...

Gfx are from TommySammy, yes, nice !

Thank you.

first slowdown:

1. reboot os, run flippaper.
2. while it runs, try to move mouse it will jumpy and jerky till flippaper will not loads, cpu loading at this time 100%

second slowdown:

1. reboot os, run flippaper
2. when interface show up just press "chancel" button. Try to move mouse right after: slowdown and 100% cpu loading for about 10-15 secs.

third slowdown:

1. reboot os, run flippaper
2. open any single image of let's say 1440x900, via "add image".
3. press "test" button => slowdown and it takes about 10 secs to set a wallpaper, while when i open prefs:wbpatter and choice the same image, it sets in 1 sec and while that action take place, mouse moves smooth.

Therefore,
it slowdowns even if you do nothing except the fact to open FlipPaper ?

What does it means "till flippaper will not loads". Slowndow occurs with or without GUI displayed ?

Sorry for all these questions but I made these tests (open FlipPaper) several times...

Are the same slowdown with FastView ?

Could you try to uncomment the DEBUG tooltype and to send me the log by mail ?

Thank you.

It mean that you dbl-click on icon, program start to load itself, but no interface show up. Until no interface showup and program loading, cpu at 100% and if you try to move mouse it jerky.

I.e. first slowdown occurs while GUI is not displayed, but while program load itself first time.

Ah OK, at startup FlipPaper
1) scan for previous settings files in ENVARC:FlipPaper*
2) scan for the existence of message port FlipPaper_Auto (external process) to see if started or not
3) and finally open the GUI

When you put DEBUG, do you see a loop ? Thanks

Is somebody else encounters these slowdown ?

Guillaume i can confirm almost one of the problem reported by kas1e, also on my system i can note a minor slowdown at startup .. but it's very little as the program will be loaded quite instatanely .. but in this fraction of time moving mouse have an jumpy and jerky side effects

I will test it further

I'll make a clean installation of AmigaOS4, because I want put one SSD hard disk in my Sam460ex, to get speed (as I saw with my MorphOS machine) and I hope that with a clean installation the problems of noise disappear, because the last time was incredible, and I'll install your program to see it, these programs besides under MorphOS also there is under Windows, only the problem are loading the background picture in the same moment that other program write or read in the hard disk, for example a defrag program.
