UFOAI - How do you run it?

Downloaded this UFO Enemy Unknown clone from AmigaSoft.

Unpacked the acrchieve, but their appears to be no icon to actually start the game.

How do you get this thing running??

The version I have installed has an icon.

Check it's not a png icon (perhaps I fixed can't remember).

Or set the directory to show all and click on the def icon.

If I select show all files, it brings up a draw called BASE, which has lots of draws and files inside (mostly cgf files), but nothing that looks like it could start the game.

Maybe they updated the game but forgot to add in the icon?

Would it be possible for you to email me the icon you have to see if it as simple as adding it in and clicking on it for me?

there should be executable file called ufoai (6Mb) and a sobjs drawer

are you sure you didn't just download the game data files ?

On the amigasoft.net website their are 2 archives to download,

One is the game (circa 340mb) and the other are the Linux datafiles.

I downloaded the 'game' archive.

Is this not the correct one?

Their doesn't appear to be any other files to download.

which system did you use to unpack the archive? Sometimes icon info is lost if unarchived on a non Amiga machine. Try selecting Show All from the WB menu.

Sounds like you got the linus data files... but you need BOTH archives anyway.

Also install http://os4depot.net/share/library/misc/png_im.lha so you can see png icons.

Installed the iconmodule, rebooted and re-un-packed the archive and the icon appeared like magic

Great game, but it seems that with 128MB of video RAM has problems, works better with 256MB of video RAM, but I encountered a lot of lock-ups and freezes unfortunately, which makes the game unplayable in long-term.

Althugh I have sorted how to run the game it just crashes as soon as it is launched and locks up workbench requiring a hardware reset.

Anyone else experienced this that could give me a clue on what to do?

What's your system configuration?

UFOAI requires "GL" support, so with a RadeonHD it may not work currently. With Wazp3D I don't know what the performance would be like. It's not an action game but still...

Same here too.
Sam440 1GB RAM, ATi9250 128MB.

I have tried with Wazp3D on my X1000, not the best experience. Game still lock-ups randomly and there are quite a few graphical glitches.

Did you try to run it with Wazp3D from Aminet?

I have Wazp3d downloaded and installed (although for some reason the prefs program wont work....I click and it wont load).
