I am working on porting a new editor for AmigaOS 4.
I shared what I am doing and the status of the project at
https://ko-fi.com/post/My-first-ported-application-Q5Q47JQ6T I will keep you informed on how this is going and when you are going to be able to test it.
This is my first port from an other system to AmigaOS 4, and it feels good :D

@walkero Nice. Does it support (a)rexx as well regarding color coding?

It's a port from linux so of course it's not going to have ARexx without considerable effort to add that in. Let the man port the core functionality.

@Raziel It's not used the way Amiga uses it.

@NinjaCyborg REXX is REXX. I wrote a script for ScummVM which was only marginally adapted to be used with Regina REXX on Linux. Also, i'm not asking for the editor to compile anything, i just wanted to know if it will be possible that the color coding inside the editor window could support rexx scripts, that would make it easier to find scripting mistakes, like non-ENDed IF clauses and such.

@Raziel Unfortunately, it doesn't. But, it uses a plugin system with Lua scripts, and will be easy to write one.

@Raziel No. Linux Rexx does not have a concept of 'rexx ports'

@Raziel
if you check at
https://github.com/lite-xl/lite-xl-plugins there are all the plugins that are available. Those that prefix "language_" are the ones that have to do with colour syntax and programming language support. There are plenty of them but unfortunately not rexx.

@walkero Hmm, those plugins doesn't look as bad (or complicated), maybe i'll give writing my own arexx plugin a try once i'm able to test it. Thank you edit: ...and done, once there is a beta version i'm gonna test it

@walkero Very nice! I have tried most editors available, like this alot that it with Amiga, it can be same editor on all platforms. I know it is heresy but does it support key mapping so I can use Ctrl-X/C/V consistently across platforms? Regards Doug

I develop on OS4 and 3.9 i imagine that an amiga classic port is not planned? Unfortunately not. It will be really slow there and I am not sure SDL2 and Lua are available. Even that the fonts are TTF and antialised and all the animations, I would dare to run it not even on a Vampire.
Of course, if there is anyone that would like to give it a try, as soon as I put my changes out there, then I hope that will be helpful.
But, I intend to create a port for MorphOS, and I hope I will make it happen.

@NinjaCyborg
Honestly, wind your neck in, you are somewhat misinformed...
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/2.3.0?topic=instructions-address The exact mecanismsmight be different but the syntax, intention and effect are virtual identical
