I just downloaded today Windows 95 and I plan to install on DosBox even not knowing yet how to make my goal.
I have the fantastic RuInDosBox installed but when I click on SETUP.EXE it doesn't give me styaright to an installation window,as I barely expected.
So in order to mount a "C:" drive inside DosBox emulator:
Can someone make me straight on to the Windows 95 installation?
What commands to use?
And most importantly,
What can I expect of Windows 95 on this very date and on a machine like mine?
An AmigaOne X5000
Thanks in advance

Windows 95 works on AmigaOne X5000 via DOSBox-SVN, but the graphics were very buggy in my install.
To boot it, I used pre-made Windows 95 HD image and booted it (see video).
As I am no Windows 95 specialist I didn't go trying to replace graphics drivers if this will fix it or make it better. Also it's slow. There are some DOSBox forks that support higher Windows 95 and 98 compatibility, but they are not available for Amiga.
Experiment with various versions and drivers and please report here if you manage to get better working install than the one I have.
At the moment I cannot go more ahead than mounting Windows-95 on C and trying with SETUP.EXE without no success or advance.
Thank you man

I think I will still be stuck with DosBOX at present time until DosBOX-X is releasd for the Amiga and that's a fact.

About a month ago I started using DosBox and yes, it was and is a great experience, all Dos applications ran really fast, even booting from Win 3.1 was fast, but there was ugly graphics rubbish (BIG ENDIAN) and Dos games could not be started directly from Win3.1/11.
I would also have liked to try Windows 95, but it's probably not possible at the moment with our DosBox, especially since if you do a little googling, a lot points to DosBox-X, which has better support for installing Win95.

I need a Windows 95 HD image file. And I think that if I can get it surely I will or can install this version of Windows.
If someone can provide me with a link I will be happy or much more than happy to get and install later.
Thanks and wish me some luck

I have been experimenting a bit with DosBox, there is a ready made HD Win95 for DosBox-X on the internet, but I have been using it as a test.
Windows 95 boots from this HD, but as soon as the desktop is opened, there seems to be a driver problem that causes DosBox to freeze. Still, booting seemed pretty fast to me, and I thought it would be cool to see what would happen if we could use Win95 under DosBox.
Maybe one day we will be able to use Windows95 with our DosBox.
If you need more information on this, please let me know.

You need to use an older S3 Trio driver - not from a Windows 95 installation.
I use under Linux https://github.com/dborth/dosbox-wii I recompiled this version for a quick test under Amigaos4, and I transferred the image I use under Linux x86 Don't pay attention to the graphics errors under AOS4 - SDL1 is broken under QEMU Pegasos2 and I didn't change anything too much in the sources. The version under Wii is PPC that's why it runs. The version from Os4depot from kas1e should probably work too. There is no way to check because there are no sources.
I tested it a little further and started from the beginning. For this I used a Win95 in my language and installed it under DosBox. There are some very good instructions on the internet on how to do it.
I had to replace the S3 Trio drivers with newer versions before I was able to use more colors (256). I can also confirm that the 16/24/32bit mode shows the same behavior as on your screenshot. So I think maybe it is a general problem of DosBox?
Also I had to adjust the DosBox.conf and set “Core =Dynamic” to “Normal” then there are no problems with booting Win95.
It works really well except that we can't use more colors like 256. Starting old Dos games was possible and playable without any problems. However, a little slower due to the “core” setting on “normal”.

From what you have written, this is not a general DosBox problem. On x86 works on PPC there are problems with graphic modes > 8-bit. What is not known is if the problem only occurs on AmigaOS4 or also on other platforms like MorphOS, Mac OSX PPC and if it only affects the 'JIT' version. Maybe nobody needs Windows 95 on DosBox on 'PPC' was not tested and the goal was to work correctly in pure DOS.

It seems to be a PPC related BIG ENDIAN problem, you can read about it again here.
This problem has been discussed before and reported on github. With newer versions of DosBox the problem may have already been fixed, but I'm not sure if we can get past version 0.74 under AmigaOs4.1. I would have liked to play with the 3dfx Voodoo 1 emulation under DosBox
@Maijestro Those ones were fixed already (you can check reprted hugi mags and games that rhey renders correctly now). Probably it can be yet another one with win95, but that need to be cheked on any other ppc port (wii one for example)

smarkusg was also able to reproduce it with the Wii PPC version he compiled for quick tests.
