The latest buids are all fast, my previous show I talked about the regression of the latest build "NetSurf-gcc-6758" which uses AmiSSL 1.x libraries

Build 3_20240912 instead used the newer "amissl_v332.library" see attached video

The regression will be because I don't build the CI ones (NetSurf-gcc-xxxx), and that has an outdated buildsystem.

For OS4.1 issues, I need to know what version of bsdsocket.library is being used and - more importantly - what the changes are between that and the previous public one.

I might also try to create an AmiSSL build for OS4 just in case that's the problem.

I don't get much time to work on this these days so any extra investigation is useful. Does a recent build of Curl work? Built against openssl or AmiSSL?

For OS4.1 issues, I need to know what version of bsdsocket.library is being used and - more importantly - what the changes are between that and the previous public one.

I don't get much time to work on this these days so any extra investigation is useful. Does a recent build of Curl work? Built against openssl or AmiSSL?

-- I know I am currently using AmiSSL 5.17 but I never tried to use Curl with either OpenSSL vs AmiSSL, you will need explain further how I do I test this for you.

Yes you should do it so that we can test it. At the moment we don't know what's going on and it seems to affect newer systems as well as beta systems.

I have tested the latest version of Curl from Os4Depot and it works without any problems, you can find the changes here https://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=network/misc/curl.lha if I have understood correctly “curl” uses AmiSSL V5 in the latest version.

I did start doing this but ran out of time! Hopefully I can get a working build on Friday.

btw, the OS3.2 AmigaGuide/ Prefs window issue should now be fixed.

The build starts normally, but again no connection to the internet. Strange...

All I know that might help is to know that *if* it's a problem of using gethostbyname_r, that it wasn't defined in older SDKs so when NetSurf + libcurl was built years ago it won't use that function regardless of bsdsocket.library version.

I don't know if that's the cause of the issue though, but it also only relates to resolving hostnames, and should be unrelated to any SSL issues.

I suggest for people having problems connecting to anything including non-SSL sites, test trying their router config page via direct IP address.

What error message are you getting? Here on that build I get "unable to resolve host name", even though the non-AmiSSL one works. Which suggests there's something else wrong with the build.

I'm sorry I should have mentioned that the error message is now slightly different. Surely you mean “Couldn't resolve host name” ? Yes, I get exactly the same error message.

I disabled the threaded resolver and it started working. However, when I tried to send this message from it it froze on me, which isn't encouraging. (edit: ok, looks like that was a one-off)

The first start was a bit bumpy for me too which meant that NetSurf was down and could not be closed. Later there was also a GrimReaper, but I failed to record the log.

After restarting my computer, everything was fine and it seems you are on the right track. NetSurf already works very well as a “dev” version.

I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue and I hope it is now working again on all machines.

Just popping in

Hey All,

I tried downloading Netsurf from this link below:

Downloaded and Installed fine.

But as soon it started.

It locked up my entire system, no grim reaper.

I had to reboot.

Tried again to start the app.

It loading the Netsurf starting page fine.

But each link on the start page, it freeze and lock up entire system.

After another reboot, I type a web address manually into the address bar.

Google website loads fine, but upon clicking any link on the google page, it is freezes and lock up the system.

After another reboot, I went to the bbc.co.uk website again manaully typing into the address bar.

It loads again fine BUT it seem anytime I click on a link within the BBC page, the system completely locks up and freeze.

A reboot is required to get system back into a responsive state.

Strange.

Keep on trying @Chris, appreciate you are doing your best to squash the bugs.

Amiga OS 4.1 with A1222+
Amiga 1200 with V2, V4 & PiStorm32.

Hi,

Here on page I did not visit previously, the loading can take several minutes and netsurf seems stall or crashed, but page finally appears.

I can also see some graphical corruptions on pages I visit after that.

I have AmiSSL 5.17 installed.

I also reinstalled AmiSSL 5.17 fine without errors.

Then hard reboot the computer.

But I am still experiencing the feeze/lockups using Netsurf.

Amiga OS 4.1 with A1222+
Amiga 1200 with V2, V4 & PiStorm32.
C64 with Epyx Fast Load and the VIC20.
