I read on Amigaworld that Sputnik should also be available soon for oS4.

Netsurf, OWB, Sputnik and maybe IBrowse3 in the near future.

Looking good at long last.

Hi @Chris

That's up to you, but I assure you it exists and will be free. I'll probably release a preview version once the major problems are solved (there is one major issue and a few more minor ones I'd like to sort out first)

Chris

I've donated to you're previous projects, but the browser project really makes me furious. Money was sent to Amizilla and Sputnik -- for what ? I wish I could get a refund and send you the money!

Simon
Personally, I applaud Chris for spending his time to benefit the Amiga community, well done to him!

I do too, but there's reason to shame me. Thanks for nothing...

I know you have, and thank you again for those.

Unfortunately that's what happens when donating to projects that have barely had any work done on them. With dodgy pre-orders and AI scams, you'd think the Amiga community would have learnt by now

Is there an alpha/beta version we could download and try?

Maybe we could send bug reports or flaws (which may always
occur on different systems)?

Also, i'm very interested in testing another big project
working with shared objects, as i am still in culprit with
OWB :-/

Thank you very much for this effort, Chris, i love you
proggies and looking forward to that browser

Not yet, I have enough bugs and things on my list already without being bombarded with reports and feature requests. I'd like to fix some of that, and improve the graphical rendering, and then I'll release a preview version.

Oh, and it doesn't use shared objects - I have Joerg's sobjs compatible version of gcc, but if I actually attempt to link with shared objects I get lots of complaints. I think the newlib startup code really doesn't like them (they work fine if I compile without startup code). Needs a new SDK that one.

Did you get in touch with the NetSurf devs for inclusion of
(needed?) OS4 specific source code changes, so that eventually
it will be possible for everyone with an SDK (and the knowledge)
to build a copy of NetSurf for(on) OS4 themselves?

What are the bugs left? (Do you have a TO-DO list up somewhere?

Sorry for the impatience, but i find this project very intruiging.

Thank you

Money from the Sputnik bounty sits safe with me and if Marcin don't deliver people will get a refund (minus paypal fees). To get sputnik ported was the best shot at the time and i didn't see anyone object to it back when the bounty was started.
Comparing it to AI's scams I find rather insulting.

Good luck with netsurf looking forward to see a stable version with javascript, etc. Looks promising.

Calm down, no one is saying sputnik is a scam. It was meant at other scams. can anyone say coupons?

Anyhow, you've done a stirling job. good luck with it all

Sorry Troels, my apologies - it wasn't meant to be taken like that. The Amizilla bounty is set up the same way I believe.

Already done (I wouldn't have got this far without their help)

Important to-dos:
1. Fix the graphical rendering which makes aw.net unreadable
2. Fix the crashing in the forums here and at aw.net when logged in.

But I'd also like to:
3. Make the rendering more complete (some drawing functions aren't implemented at all, others are very basic)
4. Implement downloads
5. Implement bookmarks

There are lots of other things to be done, but I'd like to do at least 1, 2 and 4 before any sort of release. There will be masses of complaints otherwise (and I can think of some other things that will be complained about that are beyond my control)

Very nice. how much memory does Netsurf use ?

Is Netsurf modular ?

How can one implement html/CSS datatype ?

Would the datatype system need upgrading to support HTML, CSS, Javascript, IRC etc ?

Launching and looking at the default home page = 16MB
Browsing further to the BBC News website = 25MB

Very unscientific testing, but gives an idea.

In what way? It appears to have been written to be modular and you can add extra image decoders and things easily.. I think.

Take the back end, whack some document datatypes code in place of all my GUI stuff. Good luck with that.

Nope. (well maybe for Javascript and IRC, but those aren't relevant here)

You're probably more up-to-date than me! There's at least one I'm not on which would be useful.

Not got round to it/rather not deal with all the traffic. It's the SVN commits one I need to be on.

Maybe later.
