Somehow this feature should be made visible to the user.
I can already imagine the advert for it:

AmigaOS let's you choose your applications skin, and make it look&feel like exactly the Windows or MacOS counterpart, so yo can be productive from the very first moment you switch. yuk! :o)

Hehe Yeah, I'm sure we can all think of better examples of how to use such a powerful feature, and also pitfalls. But it is a reasonable illustration of what the OP hypothesises, I think.

It is a strange malaise that has afflicted the Amiga scene, a completely reactionary attitude to different ways of doing things. Bashing the style guide like some kind of old testament Bible is indicative of that, IMO.
