The question is way did this project get so much attention of members of this forum and other forums feat like it was not important.

Usually people are silent when they're happy. And when they make noise they're unhappy or desperate. Just like small babies. When they're happy they smile and when they're not happy they cry.

A big blow for me as this is the only modern CSS browser that runs at a usable speed on my A4000T.

I really appreciate all the hard work Joerg put into OWB, I only hope Netsuf will continue to progress and maybe some
day we will have a completed, efficient and usable lightweight browser for our beloved classic machines

Any developer gets worn down by the constant complaining, "why don't you do this" and "why don't you do what someone else did". After a while it just isn't worth the effort and aggro to do all that work for for nothing.

Sadly some people don't seem to appreciate that someone developing something for FREE isn't obliged to do anything - nor appreciate that acting like a spoiled brat is just going to piss-off the (unpaid) developer & make them consider doing something else more fun

@all
While I knew about this for a while, and it is indeed very sad news, I would still like to publically thank Joerg for all the work he *did* do. I certainly wouldn't be able to use OS4 as much as I do without OWB.

On the plus side: We have a fairly rock-solid & modern web browser, which isn't going to stop working just because development stopped! And of course we have Timberwolf to look forward to.

OWB v3.30 is the first really stable version on my micro to date. Its only locked me up once since I installed it a few weeks ago & that could have just been the overloaded js site I was on at the time.

Big thanks joerg for the port & you're hard work.

Hopefully it's a temporary suspension, but doesn't sound promising.

Would be a shame if OWB development stopped (Timberwolf or no Timberwolf) as I find it a nice browser to use on the whole and frequently use it in preference to Firefox on my laptop whenever possible.

However wouldn't be surprised if this was the end of OWB, I suspect Joerg has got fed up with being nagged on forums about MUI and download managers (both of which he made clear he had no interest in). Will be a shame if he is lost from the OS4 community, it seems talented developers are in sort supply.

I also want to thank Joerg for OWB, without it we still
would be stuck with IBrowse. Thanks to OWB we have been
able to browse modern sites as they are as supposed
to look like.

It's sad to see that development will stop, but Joerg has
put in so much work into OWB; I think it's three different
code base generations where he has had to start from
scratch each time and add back in the features.
Joerg can't be expected to support OWB continually for
years on end. So I think he's well deserved for a big break from OWB.

As far as I know, the only real complaint with OWB has been
the absence of the Download Manager. But it's not really
needed.

Thanks again to Joerg for his tremendous work.

I think he will (and should) take a little rest from the Amiga world. This would be the better for him in my opinion since he gave a lot of himself and got, sometimes, very negative comments from people having nearly done nothing except complaining on different forums.

Have a good rest, Joerg, you deserve it

That's not quite true, is it? Even ignoring other browsers, afxgroup did the initial port (of course I understand the immense work that Joerg put in, and the original version wasn't anywhere as near as useable as the latest, I just think your comment is somewhat inaccurate)

Sure he needs some rest. No doubt that he deserves it.

You say it like joerg was in wish to create a complete browser, but he stop to develop it, because of some "stupid ppls". He say many times - OWB is only core, and there will be no any features from him added to OWB at all. I.e. it will be all the time as it now. All users who ask about any features was ignored by him by default.

We can be only happy that current version of OWB so stable, but now we need someone who will works on it more.

@all
And you all not mention samo79 for example, who do the _real hard_ job with reporting bugs on OWB bug-list. As well as AfxGroup, who did first steps. As well as users who annoy Joerg (i think that it those stupid ppls because of which we even have little toolbar set, and can download files even without manager, but we can download it at least).

Of course Joerg do big job (for free), and of course, we all should be happy, but still, not need to forget about other ones. And about that there is by default was no interest from Joerg to make OWB as real browser (sad of course, but that is his wish).

If you told about me, no surely i'm not happy at all, i will happy if Joerg decide to turn back on OWB, and more important i will happy if he decide to add some features on it.

If isn't possible (and here we are) i will happy if someone start with the Fab version, that's it, nothing more, nothing less ...

I hope isn't that hard to understand ...

Surely that is a lot of work... but not nearly as much work as actually finding & fixing the bugs in the code (which Joerg had to do of course).

Two things to say:

1) Thanks Joerg for your great work. I don't regret my donation a while back at all.
2) Where is the source? :)

I understand that (as always) the source code is available via an official SVN. Don't ask me where (maybe the original OWB site?), but I'm sure a little searching will find it mentioned by someone.
