Re: Installing Radeon RX560?

I use a Sapphire Pulse RX 560

@Spectre660
Thank you for the hints about the conflict of slots in X5000.
The strange thing is that the sound card works correctly with Radeon HD 4670 installed and doesn't work with RX 560 installed in the same slot.

Then it might still be a driver issue (maybe falling over because of the X5000 problem with PCI slots posted above)

It's a pci-e 1x CMI8738: I do not remember if it's an Envy24 or a compatible one.

I have installed it in the slot closer to pci-e 4x while in the second pci slot I have a sil with two sata port (I have the dvd-rom connected to one of these sata port).

The SoundBlaster Audigy arrived today and tomorrow I'll install it in the first pci (the one closer to pci-e 1x), hope it will work with RX560.

By the way, how a SoundBlaster Audigy is seen under OS4.1? What driver have I to choose for it?

Ok, I installed the SoundBlaster Audigy, it works great with RadeonHD 4670, it doesn't work with RX 560.
Same if I change the PCI slot and if I disconnect the sil from the other PCI slot.

The problem is the RX 560, which still have the issue of 100% CPU usage.

I'll keep the Audigy and I'll go on with RadeonHD 4670 at the moment (so I can also load MOS on the other HD), sadly I'll have to sell the RX 560 if I don't find a solution.

That does not sound good .
You probably need to try another Radeon RX model to
work out what the propblem is .

The RX Cards are the ones with the more advanced features.
The latest Radeon HD SI driver that you would want for the R7 card is sold separately from the Enhancer 2.x package .

Either you have a unusual RX560 or you lucked out with the
SoundBlaster Audigy or something else has changed.
Th CMI8738 is a uses a totally different chip and driver than the Envy24 cards.

@Kas1e

What model sound card do you use on your X5000 ?

I fear I have a unusual RX560, that causes the no sound problem and 100% of CPU usage both with Sound Blaster Audigy PCI and CMI8738 PCI-e 1X cards.

With Radeon HD4670 all comes back to work normally, included the sil 2 sata intalled in the other PCI slot.

I'll search for another RX Polaris card

One thing to note is that my info about conflicts was based on AmigaOS FE Update 1. Never got to test with Update 2 .

I have a Biostar Engine Radeon RX 550 4GB graphics card. Under that is the first mini PCIe slot.... that one is empty and then on the second mini PCIe I have a Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy FX (24bit/192kHz 5.1).

No problems at all. Not sure if this info will help or not but hopefully you will get some ideas.

In my X5000/40 I have an ESI Juli@ PCI, an SiI3112 PCI and a TXA005-8111x-17 gigabit ethernet PCI express. (I don't use the latter, as I use the internal gigabit ethernet instead.)

The graphics card is an RX560 from Gigabyte.

Sound works fine, both under beta and under public configuration.

Best regards,

Niels

Update :

PCI Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 is working.
=============================================================

@Kyle
There may be some conflicts with some other PCI sound cards under AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 . Need to try to look at it closely when I have more free time .

=============================================================
Taking a rest from configuring and install AMigaOS4.1 FE on my new X5000/40 .

Mercy. Not the easiest task in the world starting with the X5050/20 ISO etc and 4 year old X5000/20 backups.

Ram issues started my problems.
Had a couple of spare modules than worked fortunately .

Then ran into a pre Update 2 USB issue with the X5000/040 .
No Keyboard or mouse.
Once I had resolved that by copying one USB kickstart file and the new SATA driver from the AmigaOS 4.1 FE 2 update files to a copy of my backup boot media I managed to get a clean AmgasOS4.1 update 1 installation. Then no problem with the AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 upgrade

Put aside my Sound blaster Live! for now.
There might be conflicts . Did not manage to get any sound for whatever reason.
Go a HTY25 pcie sound card working and using the onboard Ethernet for now.
Same low profile Yeston Radeon RX 550 mode that I am using with my Same46ex.

Here I am again, I recently found an RX 570 to test in my X5000, but I still have the same problems that I have already described above. The model is an RX 570 Pulse with 4GB of ram, the PN is 299-5E353-D30SA, while the SKU # is 11266-04-20G.

In my opinion the card, but also the previous RX 560, works correctly, but there is something in the system that creates conflict and prevents the Sound Blaster from working; for this I wanted to ask you to make a comparison between my X5000 and yours; especially I was thinking about the operating system, do you have the update 2 of OS4.1 FE installed?

You also have the Cyrus firmware version (the one on microSD) from the factory or the latest updated one?

I noticed that when OS4.1 starts up the CPU is 100% busy intermittently, I thought it depended on the power option to assign as High to the Polaris 10 (as my RX 570 is seen from the system) but even in this case I don't solve. Can I activate the power preference from startup sequence? I read somewhere it is bugged.

I unplugged the second PCI card and removed the power supply to the second HD (MorphOS 'one) and to the DVD rom, in order to see if it was a power supply issue, but also in this case nothing changes. In my opinion it should be something that can be fixed, but I need to investigate.

Any suggestions or ideas you can give me is appreciated.

I have a X5000/40 .

Just installed Friday gone.
So still some hardware configuration kinks to work out.

I upgraded my initial installation to update 2 of OS4.1 FE.

Using the U-boot version that it came with .
U-Boot molsen-2018-10-05 (Oct 05 2018 - 17:02:31)

Now using PCIEx1 ENVY24 card that I purchased from A-CUBE
years ago for a Sam460ex.
Expect to upgrade to a Creative-Labs Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIE.

Now also using a TP-Link TG-3468 PCIEX1 Gigabit Network adapter.

Spend most of the day working out that the card has a conflict with My Ethernet HUB causing the computer to hang on boot.

Why not using the onboard Ethernet adapter ??

AmigaOne X5000 -> 2GHz / 16GB RAM / Radeon RX 550 / ATI X1950 / M-Audio 5.1 -> AmigaOS 4.1 FE / Linux / MorphOS
Amiga 1200 -> Recapped / PiStorm CM4 / SD HDD / WifiPi connected to the NET

I will try to install AmigaOS from zero in order to verify if something changes: it seems I have a lot of errors in my System partition, using NGFCheck and repairing it errors persists to be there.

What is the best filesystem to use with X5000 and OS4.1 FE?

I use a classic mechanical 3.5 sata HD

I am currently using the Enhancer SFS/00 for my boot partition and a few others with the Enhancer SFS/02 for the rest .
(allows me to read the partitions with the Sam460ex )

Using an old 3.5" hybrid drive .

Interestingly I don't seem to be able to get any NGFilesystem partitions to mount with AmigaOS4.1 FE update 2. Even an unformated one for formatting .
Will show up with the Emergency Boot USB thumbdrive update 1 version. but if I update that drive to update 2 then no dice.
