The new commercial package is great and I was able to install BG1, BG2 and Planescape Torment from my edition (D&D Archive).

Also the provided libraries allowed me to play the two Icewind Dales using the free version on OS4Depot.

Note the bug in id1 gog installer is fixed in meantime
(Remove the line 253 „(messages something)“ to fix
it yourselves and will be released probably tomorrow
will also give some speedups especially on lower systems.

Id2 can theoretically be run with it too but id2 has
flaws so the game does not fully run with it which is
why i did not include installers (i am told in some
chapter you cannot continue with 0.8.8 and other
flaws to fully run needs 0.9.4 which needs python 3
which we do not have - once it exists my port will
receive an update). I have made an installer for id2
though and tried it.

Theoretically just copy ID1Installer with all files and
Directories to id2installer, replace iwd1 in all
config files (first line) with iwd2 or auto and you
can install id2 with my version i think then ;)

Hi,
I want to purchase GemRB 0.8.8, it looks really great.
And somebody tells, that Baldurs Gate is better than Ambermoon!

But, please, which original games are needed?
If I search GOG.com, I see no Plain Baldurs Gate, only Enhanced version: https://www.gog.com/en/games?query=Bal ... s%20Gate&order=desc:score

Please, can you tell me which exact Game is working? I am Interested mainly in Baldurs Gate 1 and 2

Thanks!

AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200
AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000

Hi!

Yes, sure.

MOST Editions of the games should work, but as to Baldur's Gate 1+2 I recommend the 5-CD (BG) or 4-CD (BG2) versions. Of course when you buy you usually do not know how many CDs they have.

"The Original Saga" Edition (on 3 media) also works (english version at least).

Also Computerbild Spiele 12/2008 GOLD Magazine DVD has Baldur's Gate 2 in Multilanguage edition (also works). Sadly the Addon Throne of Bhaal in this edition is German-only (but main game is multilanguage). Sadly Computerbild Spiele 12/2008 non-Gold edition (BG1) is German-only.

As to Gog if you bought enhanced edition there, you can go to your Gog library, then click the game, then on "More", and then on "CD Keys", there you can then trigger that you can download the classic edition (sometimes Gog runs out of cd keys, I had to email their support and wait a few weeks to get my classic edition - they are in meantime aware that Amiga users might be interested in that stuff though - I explained to them ^^). Note Gog version comes as windows exe and needs preinstall.

But basically most versions of the game should work. Ah, BG1 6-CD-Edition English Version works too.

The port was 20% Game-porting and 80% adapting the installers to all sorts of different versions (some betatesters were very active in sending me textfiles of file-lists of non-working versions )

If you end with a version which does not work, just email me to tirionareonwe@gmail.com and I will adapt the installer so it works with your version too (as far as possible - I can adapt all versions which contain a "cab file" (data1.cab or such). The ones with huge exe files do not work, but most versions have the cab files, so normally (nearly) all should work.

Stay away from anything called "LegendsRPG Edition", for those BG1/BG2 does not work (they use exe files). Not sure if LegendsRPG was only for Polish market or also english version.

If you have the data from an install on a PC you can use that too - transfer it to Amiga, then run the Gog Installer (no matter if the data from PC was installed via gog or not) and when it asks about "Gog Data" just point the installeer to the transferred data. That works too.

If you have still questions feel free to ask (or to send me screenshots of the cover of the version you think about buying, if I see the cover I can usually tell if this one works).

The "good versions" are usually somewhat 1998-2002 or whatever, of all four games.

Fine working are

Baldur's Gate 1
Baldur's Gate 2
Icewind Dale 1
Planescape: Torment

The Addons (Tales of the Sword Coast for BG1, Throne of Bhaal for BG2, Heart of Winter for IWD1) will also mostly work, but might have a few "issues", while the main games will work completely.

If any questions left, feel free to ask!

Hi Steffen,

thank you for detailed advice! I will buy GOG version, it looks easiest.
And thank you for porting on AmigaOS!
I am curious if it will go an A1222+ too.

Hi!

Yes, it also runs on A1222. Due to the SPE vs. FPU situation not at the same speed as on an x1000 but definitely playable.

A tester with A1222 reported a fps rate of 20 fps with Baldur's Gate 1, and around 24 fps with Planescape:Torment. Might be it is a bit slower if you have a full group, I think the fps testing he did was with only one character.

Best regards,
Steffen

Great!
Two days ago I finished article about A1222+ and comparison with Sam460LE. It is a pitty, if I wait a little I should place here also Baldur's Gate speed.
Maybe I add it later, when I will publish english version on intuitionbase.

I'm thrilled about the gemrb work - these are some of my all time favorite games. Thanks @TheMagicSN! What are the next ports you're looking at?

I noticed with BG1 that dialogue options disappear for me. It is almost like the dialogue window is rendered "behind" the game... if I move the mouse around they can flicker in/out but it is quite impossible to play the game when it does that. :)

Not sure if others have had similar things?

AmigaONE X5000/020, RX550 GFX-Card.

Current Amiga computers: Vampire V4-SA, Sam460ex, A1-X5000/020
