Hi,
There are plenty of Amiga owners with PS3 (including me now) but very little OS4 HW. I thougt that it might be possible to cross compile the source code on PS3... that could open up opportunites for the community to grow.
If we make up a server park with many PS3 machines the compilation of things like Mozilla should be reduced heavily. And if we make a bounty for a serverpark with Amiga OS4 machines the developers can also remotely access them and try out their creations.
************************ * PROPOSED GUIDE * ************************ PS3 session: - Install yellow dog linux or Ubuntu on all PS3 machines - Install VNC server on linux - Create user accounts for all developers (user1... user) - Make a booking schedule available on internet for registerd users - The person that has booked the time receives an account, IP and password for VNC - Once logged in the user needs to change user account to his/her own (e.g. user1). - The login script sets his environment (access Makefile and sources) - A special script is started before compiling to determine the other available PS3?s - The code is compiled and a binary is generated - A loggfile should be filed in about the results (so the community can enjoy the progress) - The user is then promted if he/she wants the binary deliverd to the pool of Amiga servers - If so an ftp is started and the user is after that logged out from PS3
Amiga session: - Once the user has booking time for the Amiga servers he/she can login to them - VNC server on Amiga works, right? So we can use the same solution here... - The binaries from the PS3 are already available so it should just be to run the application. - Once the application is ready it's uploaded to OS4 depot
Improvements and thoughts please!
