Wrong date on Simplemail outgoing NOT SOLVED BUT CHANGED

I recently noticed that every "Sent" email in my Simplemail setup is dated 01/01/1978. Incomig dates and forum/mail-list dates all appear to be normal. Can anyone help me correct this?

Paul

Sounds like your cpu clock isn't keeping the right time, dead battery, very hard reset recently? etc... check you cpu time... 1978 sounds very familair... I know the older Amiga machines had a default time that was around that number

The incoming etc will be times set on that server hosts prior to being sent out to mailing list individuals and alike...

easy fix scenario: reset time and save
moderate fix scenario: set up a command to take the time from the internet everytime you start the machine
worst case fix but perhaps better than moderate: replace battery

Hmmmm. OK. That makes sense. It seemed odd to me that all the other stuff could be right, and outgoing wrong, but this makes sense.

Yup. Did that. No joy. Mails sent out after checking that and finding it OK still have the old date.

I've always meant to do that, but have never bothered to find a list of time servers to find an address/URL to put in. But since my clock time is OK anyway, it won't bring the correct time into Simplemail any better than manually changing and saving the time through Prefs.

I just did when I changed everything into a new case about 2 months ago. I think I've done 4 or 5 battery swaps on my XE since I first got it. And certainly putting in a new battery is no guarantee that it will still be good 2 months later. But the system time seems pretty consistent right now.

I have my A1 set up so that it always gets the current time from the internet on bootup. I can't check how I did it now though because I'm on the SAM440EP at the moment.

I did something similar :

create a script called savedate which contains the following lines :

c:date SERVER=ntp.imag.fr
c:wait 3
c:setclock SAVE

make sure the S bit is activated
then using FKEY, assigned a key (F10 here) to this command et voil? !

you just need to change to a more closer ntp date server !

or you put it in your user-startup but the "wait" command will stop the whole boot process until it finishes.

dont forget to adjust your daylight saving time too !

I wrote a couple messages to Hynek Schlawack but they were returned as undeliverable.

Bottom line is, I simply had the wrong field of info showing in the info window. See below from message to Hynek for the reason why I didn't catch this:

**********************************************
Sorry I had the wrong column of info showing. What I thought
was the "Sent" date was actually "Received". I never ask
for a receipt of emails, so I naturally would not have any
data there.

The title boxes for Status, TO, Subject and Date are all a
very dark background with black font. No matter what I
change in MUI I can't make this readable.

What fields are these in MUI? My registration key is with my
MUI installation on OS4.1. But I cannot change the appearance
of these fields so I can read them. Thanks for any help.
****************************************************

What's wrong with my MUI settings?
