I got an email containing these suggestions.

Feel free to discuss what you would like to see and whether it is realistic.

-------------------------------------------------------
SSH:

I realize we have the Unix SSH application ported to AmigaOS4, but without any proper support in the console it is not possible to use it to its full intent. I am not entirely sure which approach is the best yet, but if other applications might benefit from it, then a new console handler like "kingcon-handler" but for Unix support would be most suitable, otherwise something similar to Putty on Windows should be enough.

-------------------------------------------------------

-Datatype conversion program:

An application for conversion between the different datatypes installed in a system. Of course not everything can be converted into something else, but som examples would be:

* Transcoding mp3 songs

*Extracting audio from video clips

*Converting between different video formats

The application should support "templates" for easy conversion to different formats, for example "DVD", "iPhone", etc. These templates should define, in text/xml, the optimal output parameters for the intended target device.

It could possibly support plugins for extending the settings dialogues of the various output datatypes in case they are extended in the future.

-------------------------------------------------------

-DVD/Blu-Ray creation:

Similar to DVD-Lab that exists for Windows, it could possibly use the "Datatype conversion program" as a plugin for converting the incoming audio and video to dvd format.

-------------------------------------------------------

FTP server:

A proper FTP server for AmigaOS4 with support for FTP, FTPS, FTPES and possibly SFTP. It should have plugin support or be open source to be able to be extended to use the possibly coming implementation of a multi user file system.

-------------------------------------------------------

Bluetooth stack:

Pretty straight forward ;) Plugin support to be able to handle all the different profiles, "A2DP", etc. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile)

-------------------------------------------------------

Visual installation creator:

An easy way to create install scripts for the official "installer" application, should support "templates" as well .
-------------------------------------------------------

None of the ideas where mine but send to me by email:)

Bye

A bounty for porting one of those Nintendo64 emulators !
as AmiDog had a port for WarpOS/PPC based Amiga, our current hardware (Amigaone, Pegasos and SAM) should be powerfull enough to run it.

As MagicSN (Steffen Haeuser) stated, the problem is not the emulator itself but the plugins, which are mostly closed source...

would be nice to play mario kart though :)

Wasn't the problem with Bluetooth a licencing issue?
Something $10000 for a licence?

Probably there will be some licensing issues and now that i looked into it a bit I suspect it would be a rather big project.

Personally I will be looking forward to the day we get USB2 support

But to be honest I haven't really looked much in to the ideas myself, that's why I put them up for discussion here:)

Bounty 1:

- porting UCV (usb video class) for AOS4. It's a library for webcam that came from linux.

The library exist now on the last poseidon 68k Open source.

Bounty 2:

- Porting Poseidon to AOS4. (for having the choice to use poseidon and sirion on AOS4).

I highly doubt that every linux version paid $10000 licence fee.

@Mrodfr

Presumably the poseiden author would want to be paid to license HIS usb stack... so its a case of what goes around really. Business is either done on a commercial footing, or at a loss.

IIRC poseidon (USB stack) is now opensourced to AROS using the APL. So there's nothing stopping a port elsewhere as long as the license is honored.

Good for him. Shame that yet again someone can't make money from their software.

I would not say 4170$ in one shot can't be called "making money in the Amiga market", I doubt he ever earnt much more than that when his USB stack wasn't open sourced in all the years he spent on it.

Back to a quiet home... At last

I dont know abou tyears ago, BUT wikipedia has this to say:

Quote:

Bluetooth is an open wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs). It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

the key there is "open standard"

Chris, years ago, has explained that on the Poseidon ML. Chris has been enough skilled to do a bluetooth stack and after ask to bluetooth to right to use and they ask lots of money !!! too bad for the amiga).

Hey, I'm proposing a poseidon bounty for aos4, just to found a developper to make poseidon for aos4, because IMHO chris himself will not do the work (just my feeling and IMHO he just have MorphOS but I'm not sure) with folowing the Opensource conditions with poseidon.

I will be verry happy to give some money to chris or another developper for poseidon for AOS4 (have a usb video class for webcam !!!).

They may very well have asked for a ton of money years ago, all Im saying is that now the licence is open source (GPL2). You can download the full source for one of the linux bluetooth stacks here:

http://www.bluez.org/download/

You dont need a licence or to pay for this, you "may" need a licence to use the bluetooth logo, but to be honest who needs that...
