Sound Blaster in a SAM (SOLVED BUT FRUSTATED)
Not too shy to talk

Hi, I get a SoundBlaster Live card and try to put in my SAM.

All is O.K. The PCIView tell that it's a Sounblaster Live 02000 in Slot 8. So i think All it's O.K.

But in the AHI prefs don't see the soundboard, only the SAM audioboard.

The drivers are in the Devs/ahi drawer and audiomodes.

Anybody can Help me ???

Check the SYS:Devs/AHI. There you should have the emu10kx, if not you cannot use the soundblaster

Open a Shell, and run this command:
List Devs: ALL FILES LFORMAT "%s%s = %L bytes" TO RAM:list.txt

Then run this command:
Sort RAM:list.txt RAM:list.txt

Then open the file RAM:list.txt in notepad, and copy/paste the contents back here. Maybe we can see if you are missing a file, or if you have the wrong version.

Some SoundBlaster Live cards were made specifically for Dell, and they have a different product ID. The cards are slightly different internally too, and are not supported by AHI. It's possible you have one of those.

If you print out the PCI id (vendor and product ID) of the card, perhaps someone can tell you if it's one of the oddballs.

When you have installed the emu10kx drivers and the EMU10KX modes do not show up in AHI prefs, then your model is not supported. Please tell me what PCI vendor and device ID are shown in PCIView.

You shout between the eyes. The model is the SB0200, I search about it, and is a short version of the Live made by Dell, and don't MARKED in any place, what a F$67&%$ boys.

Well i try to change it.

Thanks to all for your help.

I would stay clear from Sound Blaster Live cards in general. I tried a couple I had lying around and they both gave me issues even though other users said they worked fine in their systems
