Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing same as me here.
I have a SAM460 and have installed the just released sound driver. It all works okay but every day when I first swith my machine on I have no sound, I load AHI Prefs and it is all set correct so click on 'Save' and reboot and sound is now working. This happens every time without fail.
When does AHI prefs load?
Is AHI prefs not saving for some reason, I assume it is because when I load AHI prefs everything is as it should be!
It isn't a major problem as such but if I want sound I have to go to AHI prefs, click on 'Save' and reboot every time, just really annoying!
SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card.
AHIprefs has a bug. I already seen something odd with it (but can't remember now). This is my ahi.prefs file: http://pferrucci.perso.sfr.fr/doc/ahi.prefs Copy it in envarc:sys I don't know if it will help....
I presume the ahi prefs are loaded by the audio driver.

When I click on that link get a strange set of charecters, is that supposed to be the file?

I did what you suggested and it behaves the same. After powering off machine, swith on and boot with no sound, perform a 3 finger salute (reboot) and boots again with sound as before!

I wish it worked the same for me. I've thought if I could only get sound on my SAM460 I might use it instead of my AmigaOne, but installing that thing didn't work on mine.
Then I got my hopes up yesterday when it was announced that Update 3 "Improved Sam460ex support including sound driver," but still I get no sound.
Could the problem be that I use a video card instead of the onboard sm502_video? That is, does sm502_audio also require the same configuration as the video?
I'm assuming that the earphone jack on the front of the machine is a valid test point, although I have tried the harder-to-get-at sound jack on the back as well.

Since update 3 sound works all the time, no longer need to reboot, did you follow the readme and set up AHI prefs as specified?
I have a Radeon HD GFX card fitted but sound is through the onboard sm502, which needs to be selected within AHI prefs as in readme.
I have a monitor with speakers and it is connected via the jack plug at the rear of my SAM460.
Are there any Amiga usergroups near you that maybe you could visit and get some hands on help?

For all I know, I am the only Amiga user in Hawaii anymore. You poor looser!
I think (yes, I do that ocassionally...) there are only three in Michigan, Paul , myself and maybe Ken Lester JR. But, I'm not sure about Ken - he's like vanished from the seen? Anyone see or hear from him?
on my side after update 3 the sam460 audio has the same problem, i have to reset few times, by the way in update 3 archive there is no present the audio driver for sam460 (sm502.audio), you're using the old one
