UADE Plugin Beta testing help needed!
Just can't stay away

... as posted by Salass00 in the "Let's Make Tunenet Plugins" thread:

I think most of the major bugs should be fixed now. I've put up a "beta" version that you can test: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26599983/uade_tnplug-beta.7z (just extract the entire archive into TuneNet/Plugins/) If it works correctly I will make a proper release of it. Note that to use the plugin you will need to have a working UADE installation: http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... e=audio/play/uade.tar.bz2

Please help us get some feedback!
This plugin plays just about any music format ever created for the amiga, including MED etc. And the playback is close to perfect!

I installed uade and uade plugin but Tunenet won't start playing .med songs. uade123 works from Shell.

I got my old Sonix songs working with Uade finally and it works better than winUae/eUae.

Do you know if it's possible to get MIDI working with Uade ?

Does the uade123 commandline player manage to play them? uadecore doesn't handle compression so if the files are xpk or powerpacker compressed you need to unpack them first.

I've just implemented xpkmaster.library and xfdmaster.library support into the TN_UADE.tnplug (unpacks the file into T: and lets uadecore handle it from there) but this feature is not in the released beta version.

An updated plugin with xpkmaster.library and xfdmaster.library support should now be available at the same link:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26599983/uade_tnplug-beta.7z

For xfdmaster you need to install the m68k files that go into "LIBS:" and "LIBS:xfd":
http://aminet.net/package/util/pack/xfdmaster

Then install xfdmaster.l.main also into "LIBS:":
http://aminet.net/package/util/pack/xfd_os4

LIBS:xfdmaster.library must be added in Compatibility prefs as it doesn't work with the JIT for some reason.

I've only tested the xfdmaster support so far with PowerPacker files which seem to work fine for me at least.

BTW if there are files that work in uade123 but not in the plugin please post a download link if possible so I can test them and see what is going wrong.

Med worked for me, you might have some other plug that starts instead of UADE plugin.

And also the assign need to be correct
Assign uade: volum:*/uade-2.13/uade

Good point. If the "Type" column in TuneNet says something else than "UADE" then there is a conflicting plugin that needs to be moved from "TuneNet/Plugins" to "TuneNet/Disabled Plugins" and TuneNet restarted if you want them to be handled by UADE.

Only the uade-2.13/uade directory is really meant to be installed. That's why the readme refers to the "uade" directory and not "uade-2.13" in the installation instructions. Anyway I'll try to remember to make an updated release of UADE with an Install script that takes care of all this when I release the plugin and updated uade sources.

I don't think I have the right UADE plugins, and don't know where to find the plugins.

And I don't understand way TuneNet tries to load UADE when s3m,it,xm extension suffix is not prescient in the egeleplayer.conf

Where did you get that?? It's not on OS4Depot or Aminet nor is it in the latest public version of AmigaOS. Did you make it yourself and is it working?

You should have the following two files in your TuneNet plugins directory:
TN_UADE.tnplug
data/TN_UADE.player

I think UADE uses a mixture of file content and file extension (prefixes ("mod.#?") as well as suffixes ("#?.mod")) depending on what format it's checking for since AmigaOS never required file formats to have unique file extensions like Windows (f.e. on AmigaOS .iff extension can be used for IFF-ILBM, IFF-8SVX and maybe other IFF formats too).

Also all XPK and XFD identified files are used by the UADE plugin ATM (I might rethink this if it turns out to be a problem).

Version 13.1, 19.Mar.2006 (LGPL)

Don't know where its from, but as it is LGPL the source code has to be some where, maybe SF.net

Well I did try searching for "xfdmaster" and "xfd" on SourceForge as well as looking on OS4Depot and Aminet but didn't find anything there either.

FWIW the current TestPlayer() implementation seems to be giving a lot of false positives. I'll see if I can do something about that.

New beta up at the same old link:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26599983/uade_tnplug-beta.7z

TestPlayer() makes use of eagleplayer.conf file now and should return fewer false positives.

I had to change IsXPK() function implementation as XpkExamineTags() returns XPKERR_OK also for non-xpk files (it now just checks for 'XPKF' in the file header). It's fixed in the current archive though.

maybe an installer script for the uadeplugin+uade+xpk would be in order? ;)

That's more or less what I'm planning except for including xpk which is already included with the OS (maybe you meant xfd?). The way the plugin is written it is able to work without both xpk and xfd libraries, you just won't be able to play compressed modules then same as with uade123.

I've also compiled a new uadecore which has a version string in it to make it possible to support updating with AmiUpdate in the future.

Fantastic work as usual Salass00! <3
Yes, i meant XFD, maybe you could include it?
Or perhaps use curl to download it?
