Hi,
A bugfix release of
SuperTuxKart 0.8 is available.
New :
1. The issue with the wrong colors has been solved.
2. Added AltiVec support
Download:
supertuxkart-0.8-altivec-linux-glibc2.13-ppc.tar.bz2 Note: STK 0.8 needs the X1000 Linux Kernel
3.8.7 or higher.
Have a lot of fun with the bugfix release!

I do see you have 8GB under OS4. What is the max RAM, e.g, can it take 2x8GB RAM or 2x4GB is max?

Latest versions of supertuxkart want IrrLicht library, which os4 do not have (and even more, the very last version of supertuxkart, want the very latest version of Irrlicht).

The X1000 has 4 RAM slots which can each take max 2 GB, so 8 GB max under Linux.
Best regards,
Niels

who is going to port IrrLicht?
I had a quick look at the project, and don't see any dependencies that would prevent a port. As far as I can tell it does use shaders if available, but they aren't a requirement (at least for IrrLicht itself).
EDIT: The Irrlicht
features page lists OpenGL
1.2 as supported, so MiniGL should be able to handle it.

half of port it to aros ,
there is direct link to archive with sources . I check them on AROS define, and seems it mostly only on wchar related parts.
If i remember right, stop factor for me was that it want shaders, but if you say its not necessary, maybe worth of try again ..

Yes, a pot of this game would be nice. And i'd gladly donate a couple of $$ for a port.

Hi, I've got round to testing this on the UbuntuDVD install I have, and a quick check showed it is running fine, nice and quick. For those of you wanting to get a copy of the UbuntuDVD, it is undergoing last minute 'tweaks' and should be available soon, possibly when Trevor gets home this week. Regards Darren

I am aware of OS4 RAM barrier, I ment he had 8GB RAM onboard. The A1-X1000 has 4 slots and, IIRC, DDR2 RAM modules can have up to 4GiB. So, in theory you could have up to 16 GiB, although I don't know if anybody has actually tried this.

Looks like you are right:
http://www.jedec.org/standards-documents/docs/jesd-79-2e -mentions 4 GB as the max. for a DDR2 module.
And I do find some when searching web shops, but they are certainly rare and expensive
.
Never the less, I stand corrected.
Best regards,
Niels
