Often pessimists claim the active Amiga userbase is only a few hundred people, typically based upon the limited number of people who reply on forums.
But this problem is similar to guessing how many Faceboook readers you have, based upon how many replies or "likes" you may get. And it turns out that people usually underestimate that by a factor of at least 3: http://www.buzzfeed.com/charliewarzel ... ok-doesnt-want-you-to-see
Given the nasty replies you'll often get on most Amiga forums, I suspect that a lot more active Amiga users avoid replying than the general Facebook average would suggest.
P.S. "Hi" to the Amiga lurker I chatted with at the Silicon Dreams show (about how Art Effects was comparable to Photoshop, etc!).
I also think that the user base is a little bit larger than the past and thanks to all the social networks, acube, a-eon, hyperion and amiga community is more easy, today, to spread the word... :)
About amiga forums and replies, yes, fully agreed but IMO number of dls (OS4Depot) is a much better way to estimate an active user base. Tell me, who did not want to try Timberwolf? 1086 dls is guite average. More scary, recent dls are very low
That's true, the number of users is slightly larger than the members of Amiga related websites. I've met some Classic Amiga users who don't even use the Internet, and others who read forums, but never join any Amiga sites. I hope some of them will update to OS4 some day.
I'd like to see an OS4.X sales graph . Hyperion wouldn't need to put any figures on it. I'm just interested in seeing if the trend is up, down or stagnent month on month.
As someone who deals Amiga stuff, I can tell you right now there are more people out there than people think. People mistakenly believe that almost everyone using an Amiga visits forums and has the internet, and this definitely isn't the case.
People tend to make up statistics to back up their own point, so if you visit A.org you'll get a stat of about 300 users, but on AW.net you'd get 10 times that amount, probably. Not sure what people on here would say because we're usually a bit more realistic. :)

That's only the last version. I'd like to know the downloads for the FIRST version (before people realised it was too slow on their machines). Total number of downloads is 4400, but that doesn't really tell you much.
I know alot of people who doesnt have an amiga but are interested to buy it especially if there will be a laptop. They are not on any amigasites at all. They are not gamers but they want programs like: torrentclient, im client, be able to connect/use facebook and Google+, use youtube and spotify.
@Joeled We already have many IM clients (but I don't use them so can't comment further). I think we already have (admittedly probably quite basic) Torrent clients (I used some years ago).
