Finally Since, November 2013, I have been without an Amiga, the SAM 440 I got had no working Sound. ACube were no help, but I managed to get a soundblaster live card, new case, 400W PSU, Its been up and running for the last 20 minutes, so far so good. I am currently Playing Star Trek First Contact on it, full video and sound via MPlayer. All being well, I will close her up, and post from the SAM 440 EP later on.

No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it.
Does anyone know if you can get a higher resolution on a SAM 440 Ep (Radeon M9) than 1280x1024? I have a monitor that does 1600x1200 and so far I am stumped.

8 bit probaberly, 16 bit maybe, 24/32 bit no chance, iirc there's just not enough memory available.
Is your monitor CRT or LCD ? 1600x1200 is usually CRT which mens lots of messing about with manuals, tooltypes and p96modeprefs unless DCCMODE=ALL works.

ok, no messing about, just use DCCMODE=60Hz, reboot and use the test mode in the popup requester for setting workbench screen mode, at least if it fails you only have to wait 10 seconds for the screen to close and your settings will be uneffected.

I'm using my Sam440ep with a Philips Brilliance 200P 20" at 1600×1200×32@60Hz. But you need to add +RB to the screenmode.
This can be done either by editing it on the second tab of the Screenmode prefs editor; select the mode and click Edit, then select +RB in the second last gadget.
Or you can just edit the tooltypes of your monitor icon, adding +RB at the end of that MODE line.
You need a reboot afterwards in both cases.
All of course provided you're not using automatic detection (DDC).
Oh, and if you don't even have a 1600×1200 mode available, make sure your monitor's minimum/maximum scan frequencies are correctly entered on that same second tab of Screenmode prefs, or in the corresponding tooltypes. For my Philips, I have:
I use my SAM440ep-mini at 1920x1080x16+compositing mainly.
(I consider downgrading the LCD to use 32b+compositing as currently the VRAM seems to run out a bit too fast. Also 3D acceleration seems to behave oddly in my default config. Often 3D speed is boosted when WB is set to far lower resolution & VRAM gets freed.)

Yep, I used to do that on mine as well, its first "monitor" was our HD flat screen TV. But it could only do 1920×1080 via VGA, not via DVI. There's a lower frequency limit on the DVI port for some reason.
