Radeon HD for Sam 440 Flex

Could someone recomend working solution for Sam Flex?

I would perfectly happy with something like this :

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-AT ... =2114.32010308.4.2.fz8tUq

But I ques it will take some time before those drivers are availlable.?

So I would need a PCI - > PCIe bridge wich is proven to work with Sam and low profile Radeon HD wich works with it??

Also there is no OS install media wich has a Radeon HD Basic driver for Sam Flex??? Will it display anything from boot?? How to do a full install with Radeon HD??

The Radeon HD drivers already work on the Sam 440ep-Flex.
Tested with grahics cards in the HD5000 and HD6000 series.

If you have a working Radeon 9250 then first do your AmiagOS FE installation.
Then Install the Radeon HD driver.
Then install the Radeon HD card.

Another method involves a working OS 4.1 machine,(winuae + OS 4.1FE classic may also work) to create a custom AmigaOS 4.1 FE iso with the radeon HD driver .

Third method using Aros/MorphOS and the AmigaOS 4.1 FE CD to create a custom OS 4.1 FE thumb drive or SDCard install with the RadeonHD driver .
You need a SDcard reader that Uboot will recognize and boot from or a thumb drive that Uboot will boot from. Both sized under 2GB . You also need a special boot image to write to the SDcard or thumb drive first to make it bootable under AmigaOS 4.1 . The Radeon HD will show uboot so the required Uboot variables can be set to make things work.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant a both driver and warp 3d. I couldn't imagine to have a card without working 3d.

I know that this card mostlikely works with hans's driver, but htere is no 3d for it. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-AT ... =2114.32010308.4.2.fz8tUq

To be honest, driver without 3d is just half of driver, together they are whole.

Thanks I got needed adapter information from your amigaworld thread. You are saying that adapter is NOT Limited to 33mhz bus speed? That was one thing I was worried.

I have excatly same machine than you have. Does it make pragtical difference with games?

My Sam440ep-flex died in September last year .
I was using a Radeon HD6670 with it up to then.
Depending on the Game. (no warp3D)
There was an increase when games used composting like Mace.
Also the Hollywood graphics engine

The current Southern Islands Warp3D driver supports Radeon HD7000, R7 series and R9 series.

Han's website lists compatible cards here.

http://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-o ... r-hardware-compatibility/

Radeon HD7750 is available in low profile and can still be bought from some places online. You shouldn't have to look too hard.

There are a few low profile R7 250 cards but you need to confirm that it has the Cape Verde core. I found one such card.

@Rob

The Radeon HD7750 cards did not work with the Sam440ep-flex .
My experience is reflected in the compatatbility list.
Same card works in a Sam460ex .
Sam440eps may need a Uboot update.

VisionTek Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 (900549)
Cape Verde 1.0 Working
NOTE: Failed when tested on a Sam440ep. However, works fine with a Sam460ex.

OK

Is it so that there is no 3D support for Sam Flex and Radeon HD? Or has anyone get one of these work with Sam Flex Radeon HD7000, R7 series and R9 series?

I'm bit a worried about PCI->PICIe adapter anyway, but 3D support for Radeon 5000/6000 might take some time.

I'd assume that if an HD7750 doesn't work then neither will R7 or R9. Hope uboot gets an update that fixes this.

The PCI versions of 5450 etc use a PCI-PCIe bridge so it's the same setup as the adapters but without the need of a separate card.

The main reason for using the adapter is that you get access to more powerful cards.

Resurrecting this old thread 'cause I can't find precise info.

On a SamEp440-MINI, if I buy this adapter: http://www.virtuavia.eu/shop/pci-32-b ... xpress-adapter.html?sl=EN

and this card (radeon HD 7700 low profile):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165445027647? ... 1HQQQNGSZ1RHVKNETTXMP2N0V

Will it work with accelerated 2D/3D graphics on latest 4.1 F.E + upd2 hotfix + Enforcer software?

Will the Display port work too?

Is there any other configuration (graphic card) that you might propose?

@Cool_amigaN

The short answer is no.

You need to inject power to the PCIex16 slot.

See my setup here: https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... id=124483#forumpost124483

Only vga, dvi and Hdmi work. Display port is not yet supported.

I succesfully tested geennaam's setup with Sam440ep-flex. Here is ( Czech ) article about it.

But if you have Sam440ep ( Mini-ITX, with Radeon M9/9000 ) I cannot recommend this setup.
In this article in paragraph 4.4 I described experiences with PCI graphics card.
In one sentence - it works, but is very slow, becouse external card is in the 33 MHz PCI bus.
Internal card ( and card in Sam440ep-flex ) is on 66 MHz PCI bus.

Now I have a suitable Radeon HD card and needed drivers.

What I lack is correct adapter. Adapter in this thread seems to support only 33mhz, not a 66mhz Sam Flex PCI.

What would be correct adapter support 66mhz bus, any links?

I have this adapter, which seems to be 33mhz only. Is that true?

This is how I planned to use it.

Radeon card is HD7850 2GB

The adapter in this link supports 66MHz and is known to work: https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... id=124483#forumpost124483
