Any idea what might be missing to get putty to run using gtk under your cygnix? http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ |

> Any idea what might be missing to get putty to run using gtk under your cygnix? The problem is, that we don't have unix terminal devices like "/dev/tty1". The ixemul.library emulates that. I don't know, how to implement this. |

Does putty really use that? I though putty had its own built in terminal emulation (which is why it's much better than say openssh). |

Thank you much for this release! Just a couple of questions: Is there a way that I can change the screen resolution of the X11 environment? If so, how? Were you going to release a newer Gimp that lets you import/export in formats such as .jpg or .png? Thanks. |

Fantastic work. One thing though I have found that the script does install an assign in user-startup (plays havoc with Netpanzer) and that the start-cygnix script looks for that assign. Are the docs just incorrect at this stage? cheers ace |

> Is there a way that I can change the screen resolution of the X11 environment? If so, how? Please look into "Cygnix:s/Start_XGeek.bat" and edit the line Run >NIL: <NIL: Cygnix:CygnixPPC/X11R6.3/bin/XGeekPPC -pri 0 -screen CyberGraphX@1024x768x16 to your desired resolution. Please use 16 bit depth, 32 bit is buggy with GTK 2. > Were you going to release a newer Gimp that lets you import/export in formats such as .jpg or .png? I think I don't release another version of gimp 1.2.5. I want to release version 2.2.13, but the plugin interface is not working yet. Had not enough time for that. @Menthos > Good work! Are the docs just incorrect at this stage? Yes, a bit. The script was created to launch cygnix without an entry in the user-startup, but it works also with these entries. The Cygnix: assign is always necessary. |

OKi, too bad. While talking about Gimp, what do you think about gimpshop? It's Gimp but with the GUI altered to look&feel more like photoshop to make it easier to use. http://www.gimpshop.net/ |

When gimp 2.2.13 is done, porting gimpshop should only take less than one days. If somebody is interrested in it - no problem. But it seems, that only some menus are different, or am I wrong? |

Didn't find a complete list of changes in a quick search but this is what the wikipedia entry says (link to from the gimpshop pages): "It shares GIMP's feature list, customisability, and availability on multiple platforms, while addressing some common criticisms regarding the program's interface: GIMPshop modifies the menu structure to more closely resemble Photoshop and adjusts the program's terminology to match Adobe's. In the Windows version, GIMPshop uses a plugin called 'Deweirdifier' to combine the application's numerous windows in a similar manner to the MDI system used by most Windows graphics packages. From March 2006, it supports Photoshop plugins, through a host plugin that can run on Microsoft Windows or Linux, pspi. All of GIMP's own plugins (filters, brushes, etc.) remain available. Due to the changes to the interface of the GIMP for GIMPshop, many Photoshop tutorials can be followed in GIMPshop unchanged, and most others can be adapted for GIMPshop users with minimal effort." |

Nice! I did a fresh install and it's good looking and fast! Installed VIM7 immediately and the GTK menus look nice. Installed the AddON games, but can't select anything? I'm a Xmajohngg addict! The popup menus disappear before you can select anything? All and all, a very nice X11 desktop! |

I have just installed it, looks great, and runs fine from Amidock. I'll have to downlaod and install the other cygnix progs from OS4Depot. Is ther any chance of an installable version of the easytag1.1 program. I am not a programmer, and do not know how to compile it. Thanks for all your hard work. |

> Oups, changed to transparent window dragging, instant grim. > It all seems a bit slow, I suppose no hardware acceleration is going on? Transparency is not really supported. You should not use it. Hardware acceleration is a problem on normal screens. The display is built on top of the amiga gfx system. > A simple guide for how to add a toolbar to themes without one would be nice. Here is a tutorial page: http://www.etherdoxproject.org/etheme_tutorials/tut1.htm Basically the toolbar (and the other buttons) are defined "Cygnix:Home/root/.e16/themes/<themename>/buttons" |

Please make sure, that you don't have installed an old version of the abc-shell somewhere. It can cause problems. @Swoop > Is ther any chance of an installable version of the easytag1.1 program. I am not a programmer, and do not know how to compile it. Easytag 1.1 should work with prerelease 3. What is the problem? But if you are a bit patient, the latest version 1.99.33 with GTK 2 interface will be released soon. |

Tried adding your buttons and menues to the theme but all I ever get is grey boxes everywhere that doesn't do anything. I have installed the following packages:- Amaya Cinepaint Gimp gvim EasyTag All from OS4Depot, are there any others I have missed that don't show up under a 'cygnix' search. Also how can I use the icons shown on the menu bar at the bottom of the cygnix screen, in Amidock to launch the programs. At the moment I have an Amidock category for cygnix, with cygnix and the packages above on that dock, and I double-click to launch them, but they all use the OS4 default script icon. It would be great to use the programs actual icons. |
